Hotel Review ★★★★★ We stayed at this hotel for a three-generation family trip, and it was a wonderful place that fully satisfied everyone, regardless of age. First of all, the outdoor bath attached to the room was truly amazing. We were able to enjoy the hot springs in a private setting, and the grandparents were thrilled, saying it made them feel "luxurious." The meals were also impressive, offering a variety that catered to all ages. From traditional Japanese cuisine to dishes that delighted the kids, the selection was broad, and the ingredients were fresh, demonstrating the care that went into each dish. I was also surprised by the abundance of complimentary services. We had access to various drinks, snacks, and ice cream, and the provided yukata made it easy for the whole family to relax and enjoy their time. The large public bath exceeded our expectations. It was clean, spacious, and well-equipped for a comfortable experience. The quality of the hot springs was excellent, fully easing our travel fatigue. The environment is also well-suited for families with children, which is a major plus. The consideration shown by the staff was wonderful, and we would love to return with our whole family. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone considering a three-generation trip.
Located right next to Gora station and the Hakone Tozan Cablecar to ride up to see Mt. Fuji (cablecar access included in Hakone Free Pass bought separately). Facilities are plentiful, we can choose our own Yukatas of various patterns at the lobby and different free amenities are available throughout the different hours of the day (eg. Coffee & Tea, Ramen for supper, Sweets etc.) Tatami room is spacious with wide comfortable beds. Beautiful nature views from room but still enjoy privacy with leaf cover from the trees. Nice to walk around the Ryokan as well with the garden and greenery within the space. Facilities like the public onsen are also clean and well maintained. Open-air private onsen in the room was also lovely to have as an included facility. Dinner and breakfast included were delicious and very filling. Can choose 1 of 2 menus for dinner, each menu is served in different restaurants. If travelling in a big group would have to all choose the same menu to dine in the same restaurant, and encouraged to send a message to reserve seats to ensure the whole group can sit together. General staff's proficiency in english is a little lacking but can get by using voice-translation apps for communication. A few members of staff are ok with communicating in english.
The Ryokan offered us what we felt was a very traditional experience. We would not hesitate to return in the future. Things that really stood out for us: 1. Variety of pools at the shared Onsens, as well as the three private Onsens: 2. The (excellent and variable) traditional Kaiseki breakfast and dinners. Also, there were a variety of other snack options throughout the day. You will not go hungry! A tip: if you prefer Western food and Western in-room comforts, we are not sure whether you have these kinds of options here.
Located right after walking out from Gora station, the resort offers good convenience for those who want a good balance of proximity to attraction and transportation. Gora is the mid-point between Hakone Yumoto and Ashi Lake, which is deeper into Hakone, and Tokinoyu offers a very compelling package for those looking for a comfortable stay. We stayed in the flower wing of the resort, and while I read reviews of the resort showing its age, I thought I wasn't too bad and overall it has aged well with good upkeep albeit being a little rough around the edges if you looked closer. Seems reasonable for a resort that likely experiences a high volume of both local and tourists. Overall, am happy with the room comfort, cleanliness and amenities provided. Meal package is a great choice, providing first-timers an introduction to all-in Japanese Ryokan dining but with less formality. Staff are pleasant and display the expected Japanese hospitality, but special mention to the restaurant staff who were excellent. The various servers throughout the three days were all exceptional, and played an interal role that allowed us to throughly enjoyable our meals; the Kaiseki dinner was a great experience. The resort has three different onsens, two gender specific open onsens, and a section with 3 private onsen areas. Great insen amenities for those who enjoy a good few dips a day; visiting in early winter provided amazing weather to pair with the soothing hot onsen baths. Overall, great experience and recommended for first-timers who wish to experience a more modern Ryokan.

“Beautiful, nice onsens, good food”
Overall had a very pleasant stay here for 1 night and had a great time. It was not exactly what I expected- this is a fairly large ryokan built for many tourists, and is not a small inn requiring sleeping on futons on tatami mats for example, so if that is the experience you are looking for, this is not it. The rooms were modern with modern beds and the meals were served at restaurants on site, not in our private room on tatami mats. However, because it is made for a larger amount of guests, there were a lot of nice included perks including snacks, ice cream, coffee and tea, late night ramen, 3-4 onsens with additional sauna, carbonated bath, outdoor private onsens. And in the room you have a nice open air bathtub. You can rent yukata for free or they also provide samue (traditional monk clothing) and slippers to wear around the hotel. They provide included bottles of water and matcha making set in the room! The onsens were nice and there were several open air baths including 3 private rooms, a carbonated pool, cold pool, sauna, indoor pools. My personal bath had a piece of hair in it so it wasn’t spotless but it was easily cleaned and able to enjoy. Lots of bugs outdoors in the summer, beware! Dinner and breakfast were really yummy. Dinner is a full 8-9 course meal or large hot pot. Of note, dinner can be either earlier 5:15 or 8:00, you must reserve a time and the earlier time does tend to get fully booked. The “free” snacks can help you tide over to late dinner but just fyi. Breakfast was enormous for 2 people and we didn’t even finish it (my husband and I usually eat everything in front of us). There was enough soup and rice for at least 4 servings. Overall even though it wasn’t what I expected, it was a great service with lots of value with “freebies,” snacks, good food, onsen, and comfort. Would recommend at least once!
