We were in Bali for 10 days and stayed in a few hotels across Kuta, Seminyak and Ubud. We received exceptional services at the various hotels we stayed in and this was the only hotel that we did not rate 5 stars. Anvaya Beach Resort was the only hotel we stayed in where we felt that the hotel staff services were sub par and needed more training. First impressions were bad... As our car turn into the resort, we were stopped by two security guards who wanted to inspect our car. We understand this is for safety and security reasons but the security guards looked very stern and did not even smile or greet us. They just ask our driver to get out and checked our car and car boot before waving us off. It felt to us like we are going through border immigration checks. After that, our car proceeded in and stopped at the entrance so that we can alight. The staffs at the entrance just ignored us and had a nonchalant indifferent look. They did not smile or greet us nor did they offered to help unload our luggage. They just stood there as we lugged our luggage up the steps by ourselves. Once we have lifted our luggage up the steps, they then approached us and ask us to leave the luggage with them and asked us to pass the tag to the counter and then they will send it to our room. We then walked into the main lobby looking for the check in counter. When we approach an empty counter on the left side, the staff asked us to walk to the counter on the opposite side. There were only 3 counters on the opposite side. One counter was empty without any staff manning it and the other two counters were occupied with other guests. We queued there for more than 5 mins before one of the staff walking by asked us to go seat down somewhere first. We then waited another 10mins before we were served. Strangely enough, we were only offered a welcome drink when we finally got our turn at the counter. This is minor but we would have expected them to serve us a welcome drink while we were seated and waiting and not wait until we are at the counter. Troubles at the counter. We have requested for twin beds in our booking and the counter check in staff also mentioned that our request was in their system. However they claim to only have king size bed available at the moment and if we wanted twin beds, we would have to wait until 6pm to check in, way past their listed check in time. This was around 1.30pm and they wanted us to wait for another 4.5 hours just to check in? The staff was not apologetic at all and her manner of talking is telling us to "either take it or leave it". We were very tired at this point so we accepted to take the king size bed instead and check in immediately. A staff then proceeded to show us the way to our room. Or so we thought. The staff only walked us a short way (1 - 2mins) then left us asking us to walk straight and then turn right and find our room by ourselves. Upon reaching our room, we wanted to take a bath but our luggage was not sent over yet. We waited for 15 to 20mins before we decided to call reception to check on why there is a delay. Reception then asked us if we have passed the luggage tag to the counter staff which we have already did when checking in. They then ask us if they should send the luggage over now. We did not know why there is confusion over such a simple task. We wondered if the counter staff had not updated the luggage department on our room number and did not ask them to send over the luggage over to our room. The room itself was decent and the bed and pillows were comfortable. The room also had a smart tv with support for netflix, youtube, etc. The breakfast spread was excellent and the breakfast food was good. Restaurant staffs however were not that welcoming. As we approach the restaurant for our breakfast, the staffs did not smile or greet us as we walk over. They just ask us to tap our room card on their device and then showed us our table. Anvaya is the best hotel in kuta area. The staff Ms. Rista is assisting me for details upon check in process. She make me easier to check in while im booked 1 Night - 1 Night ( Separately ) but she give clear indormations and details. Access from lobby to room its not far, actually Im stayed in 5111 deluxe room. the amenities nice and the room is very clean. in the afternoon for looking a sunset im going to The Sands resto ( Outdoor side ) . and also the taste is good and valuable, those of staff in Restaurant is really helpfull. Anvaya is the best hotel in kuta area. The staff Ms. Rista is assisting me for details upon check in process. She make me easier to check in while im booked 1 Night - 1 Night ( Separately ) but she give clear indormations and details. Access from lobby to room its not far, actually Im stayed in 5111 deluxe room. the amenities nice and the room is very clean. in the afternoon for looking a sunset im going to The Sands resto ( Outdoor side ) . and also the taste is good and valuable, those of staff in Restaurant is really helpfull.
