Located in the heart of Asakusa area, this hotel is perfect for those who want to explore the Sensoji temple and enjoy local restaurants and shops. The staff are very friendly and speak good English, providing helpful information to make your stay more pleasant. The rooms are clean, tidy, and have comfortable beds. The free breakfast is good value for money, and the common area is a great place to meet new people and socialize.

Guests keeping their shoes inside the rooms led to an unpleasant odor in some areas.

“Safe, Extremely Affordable, Cozy, and Easily Accessible ”

📍The location is a bit of a walk from Asakusa and Tawaramachi station (Ginza Line) but it’s not bad at all! I recommend getting off at the Asakusa station as it gives you the option to pass through the Sensō-ji Temple. That way, you’ll have a more scenic walk to the hostel. Just make sure you use the exits with elevators if you have large luggage. 🛎️ Check-in is quick and straightforward. It’s my first time staying at a hostel so this was great. They provide a bed cover and pillow case. You can rent a towel for 100 yen or just bring your own. Renting is better in my opinion. No need to worry about drying a large towel. 1pm check in - 11am check out 🛌 The bed is pretty comfy. Since it’s a shared room, manage your expectations and be mindful of the people you’re rooming with. I got the top bunk which isn’t my favorite but at the end of the day, at least i have a cozy and large box to sleep in. Comes with a fluffy blanket, charging outlet, and reading light. FREE WIFI everywhere too. 🛁 There are 3 sinks, 2 showers, and 3 toilets in the womens bathroom. Not sure if it’s the same in other floors. It never felt crowded for me. There are nights when i have the bathroom all to myself lol 🍱 The kitchen/laundry/lounge area was where i hung out the most! It’s open 24 hours. I believe you can order food and drinks here but they allow you to bring outside food too. Great way to make new friends from different countries 🥰 🧳 There’s a huge room to store your bags in case you want to check out but leave your bigger bags at the hostel for a few hours. Overnight storage is 500 yen which i had to do cuz i had to switch hostels for 1 night and didn't want to lug around my huge bag. Overall, I really enjoyed staying at this place. At first, i only booked 2 nights but decided to stay for more than a week.

“By far the worst hostel experience”

I have stayed in a hostel in Bangkok and Seoul, the staff were friendly to everyone, do try their best to communicate effectively, basic necessity is provided, and good value for money. Location: quite near Sensoji Temple, Hoppy Street, Don Quijote, and along a peaceful street. However, it is a bit far from the Asakusa Station - 850m away which is like 12-15 minute walk depending on your pace of walking. If you want a place that is near the train station, this is not the place to be. But if you like walking, then this is the place. Check-in: You can check in anytime as long as within the time of your reservation. We checked in late on our first day due to our flight was delayed, I was asked to fill out the form, provided with a paper with house rules, 2 pcs key card, and 2 pcs of bed sheets with pillow case. The next day, we are to transfer to a dorm room for 6 from a private room for 2. I asked the receptionist (Kosuke) during that time if we can check in early because I will be going out and have big luggages. He said we can’t because they will still be cleaning the room and said we can just leave the luggages, gave me a paper. I said I will do it later. He looked annoyed when I asked, so, I said may I just go eat breakfast.. he said Yes. I ended up waiting for the check out time, asked the Asst Mgr, Yuki, if I can leave the luggages. And asked if my friends may check in since I will be out. She said yes for both, was given the paper to fill out when I will be claiming the luggages and was asked for my friend’s name. My friends were able to check in, they were given 2pcs key card and 2pcs bedsheet with pillowcase. In the evening, when I arrived, I asked if we can have an extra key card.. I was told by the receptionist (Joshua), only 2 key card maybe provided for a dorm room for 6. Rooms: The private room for 2 is quite small, it has 2 individual beds and a table in between. If you have big luggages; it may take up all the space. The only thing I like about it is you have a view of the pagoda and a big window. The dorm room for 6, for me is bigger, has 3 bunk beds, an area for a cabinet (padlocks not included), 2 chairs, and a trash can. We have 4 big luggages, it wasn’t crowded as you can place it under the bed and there is a space in between 2 bunk beds where you can put a luggage. Bed is quite comfy, one pillow is too soft not my liking, and the duvet keeps you warm. You may also put the heater on if its too cold. For the last 4 nights though, my sister and I slept without sheets and pillow case because they didn’t provide sheets to my friend. Toilet and Bathrooms: It is a shared bathroom, you need to go to the hallway, pass the elevator, to get to the Male and Female bathroom. I think the number of cubicle for toilet and shower varies per floor. On the first night we were at the 6th floor, there were 2 toilet cubicle and 1 shower cubicle. From day 2 until day 6, we were at the 5th floor, there were 3 toilet cubicles, and 2 shower cubicles. I like their shower because their hot water is Hot until our day 4, when we were about to shower, one of my male friend said the hot water is not working. So, I went down and told the receptionist (Joshua), he gave me the instructions and I said okay. I went back, did what he said, but its not working. Since we are in a hurry we showered with cold water. When I got of the toilet, I saw Joshua said he just checked and everything was okay, I said no it wasn’t I showered in the cold. Note, he went up when a caucasian guest said the same problem. Breakfast: They have free breakfast from 5am to 11am. Bread that you may toast, soup of the day, hot and cold coffee, milk, hot and cold water, and 3 type of teas. I ate breakfast every single day that we stayed until our last day (we arrived exactly 5am due to we were stranded). Just a background, when you get in the hostel, the left side is the reception on the right side, is the area for breakfast and table and chairs. I told my sister

“Strategic location and easy to access”

I was on my last leg of my solo-travelling, was coming from Sendai and had my final stop at Sakura Hostel. + The hostel is strategically located within the heart of Asakusa and easily accessible with few minutes walks to train stations. + There's konbini (convenient store) and plenty of good places to eat nearby. + The hostel has luggage/bag storage area which is convenient if you happened to arrive early or need to go somewhere in a bit after check out. + The hostel provided access to its kitchen and dining area. There's plenty of cups and plates to use and the dining area is spacious. There's microwave to reheat your food as well (I enjoy having rice and natto for breakfast, so this really comes in handy). + The bunk bed was comfortable, comes with electric plug point and light. + The area below the bunkbed is also spacious, you can put in your medium sized luggage at ease. + The room also comes with small locker, so you can keep your daily stuff there (for immediate access to toilet) and bring your own padlock to lock it if need be. + Iron is also provided too. + There's lift (elevator) for those with luggages. + There's money changer machine outside the premise too. + And of course, the friendly staff. They've been most helpful throughout my stay. Thank you, iro iro arigatou!

    “Highly recommended!”

The trip to Tokyo has come to an end~ I am very grateful to [Asakusa Sakura Inn]~ My six-day stay here was particularly warm and comfortable~ Before coming, I was a bit worried about the transportation and environment of the inn due to the reviews on the Agoda platform. But after experiencing it, I found that this place is truly perfect, far beyond my expectations! The room I stayed in has a view of the Skytree, as well as green trees and birds outside the window. Many Westerners stay here, and the staff are also proficient in English. Everyone is very nice~ I met a few young ladies, and we had a great time chatting~ The inn also offers free breakfast and has a shared kitchen, which is really convenient~ I cooked many meals myself; the kitchen is well-equipped with pots and pans, a refrigerator, an induction cooker, and a rice cooker, plus there are seasonings provided! There are many staff members every day, with different staff available at different times, and the cleaning is done diligently with a very good attitude towards service~ One day, traditional performers came to give a show, and everyone sat in the lobby to enjoy it, it was so lively! Unfortunately, I didn't pay attention to the performance time in advance, and when I returned it was almost over, crying. There are many travel brochures available in the lobby that you can freely take~ Previously on Xiaohongshu, it was mentioned that most Tokyo subways do not have elevators🛗, and many have long staircases, making it inconvenient to carry large suitcases up and down. However, staying at [Asakusa Sakura Inn], you don't have to worry at all; if you take the A2b exit at [Asakusa Station] (this elevator has Mandarin announcements), there is a direct elevator, and there is also an elevator if you take [Tawaramachi Station], just follow the signs. [Asakusa Sakura Inn] has an excellent location, very close to Senso-ji Temple. Nearby, there are shopping streets like Don Quijote and other duty-free stores. There are also many local specialty food shops that are both tasty and cheap, I recommend [Toriki], hahaha! For groceries, there are many supermarkets, and I recommend a hidden gem fruit and vegetable shop [Tsukiji Marusuke Izumi Asakusa Store], where fruits and vegetables are much cheaper than in supermarkets! If you're not used to local dishes, there's also a Sichuan hot pot place nearby called [Jia Ding Small Hot Pot], offering white broth and spicy broth at cheap prices with generous portions and great taste! Nearby, there are LUUP shared bicycles and scooters, 150 yen for 10 minutes, which is a bit pricey~ The downside might be that during the day when the amusement park nearby is operating, you can hear people screaming on the roller coaster 🎢🤣. But overall, it's very good, highly recommended!
