Zamboanga Sibugay hotels & places to stay

We stayed at this hotel for 8nights. We arrived at Zamboanga around 7am then we just went to their kiosk on the left side of the exit gate for a free land transfer from airport to the hotel. Hotel is just 5 minutes away or lesser from the airport. We booked garden wing which is the new wing of the hotel. When we arrived at the hotel, I approached the receptionist right away about my room reservation, they are not that friendly and approachable unlike other receptionist we encountered, but as a guest, we have to stand firm especially when we do a call two days before arrival. After checking in, they gave us a room on the 4th floor (4421), room with no view and we noticed that there are cockroaches on every corner of the room so I decided to call the housekeeping to resolve our issues on the said room. He offered us a room on the 8th floor which I refused to accept due to water pressure issue I read on the reviews of the previous guest, so he offered another room on the 5th floor (5508), a room with pool view. I just forgot his name but I think he is the head of the housekeeping. he is very attentive to our needs, he even called us late afternoon to asked if we liked our new room. I would also like to commend Calvin Klein (housekeeping) for being a good room attendant as he respond to all our request and for keeping our room clean and tidy. I am also impressed on how they improved their breakfast buffet unlike the previous years. This is now my daughter’s favorite hotel at Zamboanga, worth every penny, and we will definitely comeback.

This is one of the newest hotel in Zamboanga. The hotel lobby is big. The hotel looks posh for the affordable price that I paid. Wifi connection is good even inside the rooms. The hotel cafe is still not yet open but because it is located at the heart of the city, when u step out of the hotel there is Jollibee and Mcdo. Its very convenient. Staffs are friendly and helpful. I just happened to pass by the area when I stumbled upon this hotel. The location is quite good and is in the main downtown area of Zamboanga. The wide space in the lobby made me and my companion feel relaxed. Upon entering our room, again we were quite surprised because of the spacious area and the bed was very comfortable, we were able to fully rest after a tiring day. You won’t feel cramped staying in this hotel. With the price point, I can really say I felt the value for my money. I feel very satisfied and would come back soon.

We requested a spacious room, and we got it! We were pleasantly surprised by the size of the room--there was plenty of space for 3 extra beds. During our four day stay there we only experienced a single blackout. Since blackouts do happen in Zamboanga, I can't blame the hotel for that 3-minute blackout. However the room had insects I've never seen before.. The first night we spotted a tiny cockroach, the second night there were three--one tiny cockroach and two black insects I've never seen in Manila. Also, the refrigerator we got in the room did not work.

I initially booked at Jardin and made the right decision to transfer to City Inn. While I had a bad experience in the other hotel across the street, my stay in City Inn was great that I'm considering to go back to Zamboanga and book here again. The hotel is new and well maintained. During my stay, I regularly saw staff cleaning the hallways, which is good. For a budget hotel, City Inn looked classier than other 2-, 3- or 4-star hotels. The room has a comfortable bed and clean sheets, flat screen TV, and one thing I really appreciate was, for that room, I think I saw more than 6 wall sockets to charge my gadgets. I didn't have to use my travel extension cord. The only issue I have is with the food. Nothing spectacular with their breakfast. They can improve on that. I ordered the breakfast set with ham and egg for PHP99. Although cheap, it looked sad and oily, then the coffee was a 3-in-1 sachet. Maybe they can expand their offering in terms of food. Overall, I had a great time in Zamboanga and City Inn is one of the reasons. Will definitely go back! :)

Facilities are ok - LCD TV, AC and hot and cold bathroom. Room and bathroom are quite small in terms of space. Our room is in front of the highway so noises outside can be heard (motorcycles and videoke singing) eventhough the windows were closed. Wifi is not consistent inside the room. The good thing is there's a waiting area in our floor and a drinking station where you can get cold water given that black out is common for Zamboanga and thus cold water is kind of a treat. It is also near the Canelar Barter Trade where you can buy stuff from Malaysia and Indonesia.

The hotel is OK for a provincial hotel. But the description on Agoda gives a false impression. Expectations are set above delivery so initial impressions are disappointing: * New Delux Room: Rooms all in an old building; new buildings in the photo are conference facilities. * 2 Double beds: Two SINGLE beds. The hotel insisted that double means the room is for two people – did not accept that single/double bed relates to the size of the bed itself. * Balcony/terrace: this is the outside corridor. It is not private. No views (blocked by other parts of the building).Noisy because kids run up and down banging on the doors. * Desk: No chair. A plastic chair was provided when I asked. * Coffee/tea maker: A kettle was provided. No cups. 2 cups provided when I asked. No tea or coffee. Housekeeping did not include washing or replacing the cups. * Kitchenware: No kitchenware. * Free wifi access: This is listed as a room feature - and is the ONLY reason I chose this hotel. THERE IS NO WIFI IN THE ROOMS. Coffee shop wifi might have been OK but the coffee shop was always in use for seminars. Fortunately, there are good Globe and Smart 3G signals so I used my cell phone as a hotspot. The Agoda description has a nice photo of the pool. But as far as i can see, none of the rooms overlook the pool. There were conferences and weddings every day (stayed 4 nights) which splilled over into the pool area and lobby so there was little chance for a quiet time by the pool. Nearly all the room look out onto the main road, which is noisy. The other rooms didn't seem to have windows that could be used. The top floor is better than the second floor. Now, having said all this, it is not bad for the money. It was fairly clean, beds were basic but comfortable, the delux room is quite large, hot water most of the time, aircon worked ...

There are room for improvements like cleanliness of the bathroom (particularly shower area), leaks from shower division, the air con size for the family room was quite small (but they allowed us to leave it on so the room will be cold when we come back), and the noise from the Gym (but this was resolved immediately when we requested to be moved to the other wing opposite from the gym). Security is tight, which makes you feel secured. Polite staff which is the biggest factor. Will definitely stay there again on our next trip.

From the time I arrived at the airport, I thought I had a very special treatment. Miss Benita Feliciano was the one who facilitated my transportation going to and from the airport and made sure I was well taken care of. She even checked me in at the airport without me being in the airport yet when I left Zamboanga for Tawi-Tawi. So I really appreciate that. When I got to the resort, everyone was just nice. My assistant called the day before to make sure that my room was confirmed. When she told Miss Rose that I needed a good internet connection, they immediately transferred my reservation to Casita number 2. When I got there, I had the router for my own use inside the room. I had to work for a few hours in the evening of my stay so I really needed a good connection and they did not disappoint. I was able to work without any issues. The power went out twice during my stay - I guess this is an issue in Mindanao. But the resort is well equipped with a generator so power was never an issue. I left very early in the morning so I could not take the complimentary breakfast. They gave me a complimentary dinner instead. And did I forget to mention that my room was right in front of the beach? The food in the restaurant was also good and very affordable. One of the staff members who was on duty during the early morning accompanied me and talked with me until my airport transfer arrived.

We booked a 4 days 3 nights stay but we decided to move to a different hotel after 1 night of stay because upon checking in the room they said is still occupied(we called in to let them know that we are checking in early) we waited for like 1 hour at thier very small office. When we where ushered to our room we were told that the floor is still wet, so lo & behold it is literally wet all over😲. We notice that some of the locks are broken & there is a back door with no secure double locks attached to it. On the 1st & only night of our stay a group of guys knocked urging us to let them in (creepy). The next day from our tour we noticed that the aircon in our room was switched off (we purposely left it open because its so humid outside and so when we get back we dont need to adjust the temperature). Then when we are readying to check out, though I forgot to lock the door due to exhaustion a guy just literally barged in without knocking. Pros: breakfast served is good.

Overall, it was a very pleasant stay. Their policy of putting a 5 minute delay on the aircon start-up puzzles me though. This is probably applicable only if they are coming from a brownout and they want to stabilize the power first. Five minutes is simply too long to wait if you're coming from a tiring 2 hour plane trip. I also think that wi-fi insode the hotel room should be standard for a hotel that claims itself to be 2 stars.
