Bataan Province hotels & places to stay

Room - 2 pax (2 single beds) This room would be totally amazing if the beds were softer and if the bed doesn't make creaking sounds when you move. And since the room is located along the entrance to the pool, just beside the reception area where the dining hall is located, you will hear footsteps and motorbikes/tricycles at night. If you're a light sleeper, better book the room upstairs which is also good for 2 pax (Queen bed). I also need to point out that the hot water is not hot enough (barely lukewarm). The gardens outside of this room though areAMAZING.. And it's only a minute walk from the infinity pool - the best infinity pool with spectacular views of foggy mountains during the day & the sparkling lights of Bataan by night. If you need to do a little bit of work at night like me, there is a study with a wall lamp where you can comfortably work if you need to. The WiFi works! This is the cheapest room I believe, but the price is still quite steep mainly due to comfort factors.

I truly like this place. It was built during the Marcos era (1974) and I am both a hotel professional and a history "nut". The design of the place is fantastic and very "high end" in the '70s mode. The Oriental has done a great job. The key would be to keep the staff off of their cell phones (a key problem in all hotels in the Philippines). Deluxe rooms are in the "basement" of the front.....so keep that in mind. Food is "fair" at best. The pool is great actually and the location and view were really excellent. When in Bataan, we will return for certain.

My wife and I really enjoyed our 4 night stay at the Crown Royale Hotel in Balanga City, Bataan during April of 2012. This was more than an overnight stay for us. We were using the hotel as a base to explore the historic Bataan peninsula. Our impressions were all positive and we have no negative comments. It was that good. My wife is a Filipina in her late 40’s and I’m an American in my early 60’s. The purpose of our visit to Balanga City, Bataan was to see Mt Samat and other WWII points of interest. The Crown Royale Hotel was ideal for our needs. We are regular visitors to the Philippines. First we visit her family in Tacloban, Leyte for about a week then head off to see other places of interest in the islands. We have stayed in some fine, well known hotels in Manila, Cebu City, and elsewhere along with lodging in the more basic pension houses found in the provinces during our travels. We discovered the Crown Royale in Balanga to be exceptionally well balanced overall for a hotel located anywhere in The Philippines. Our room (307) was oversized, clean, well furnished, quiet, and had a view of the cross on Mt Samat. The hotel restaurant (the Silver Room) serves very good meals with generous portions for dinner and at affordable prices. The hotel staff members were all polite and helpful. During the evenings while we were at the hotel, there were 2 large birthday parties held in the ballrooms, and we saw a wedding photo shoot in the lobby area one morning. It is obvious that the hotel is also involved with and part of the local community. Just in front of the hotel you’ll easily find a tricycle available, the local means of transportation. The fare per person is only P10 (about 25 cents US) and it’s a quick trip of a few minutes to the local Mall, Galleria Victoria. You’ll find anything you might need or want there, fresh baked goods, bottled water, fast food, etc. The Mall has a department store and a grocery store. Just nearby is the money changer.

Bataan was our last stop on our Vigan-Laoag-Bataan roadtrip before heading back home to Manila. The Plaza Hotel was by far the best hotel we've stayed throughout the 4day trip. The room was big (well, maybe because they have upgraded our room). Buffet breakfast was good as well. The hotel is located at the center of the city, there was even a mall nearby so looking for a place to dine or having a cup of coffee would not be a problem. The WIFI was fast! But its location can be also a disadvantage as we had a difficulty looking for a parking space. The bathroom, I think, is poorly designed. There was water everywhere as they do not drain properly.

Pool: both the inflatable and main pool has strong chlorinated water. Our hair became very dry. My black sportsbra faded after getting soaked in the pool for almost an hour. Lesson: wear appropriate swimwear. But evenso, the pool water has very strong chlorine content. Room: we were assigned to Dorm D. It was clean, specially the bathroom. We paid addtl 1000 for the cottage in front of our room. It has chairs and big table with electric sockets. Grilling area is quite far from our cottage. Beach area: very clean. Good for kids. They have lifeguards in the area until 6pm. Pool is open til 10pm. They have restaurants inside the resort. They sell drinking water, ice and they have a small store in the reception area. Staff are visible so you can just ask them to buy the water or ice for you. Overall great experience.

Pros: -Room is very spacious and clean -Aircon working well -Wifi is fast -Food fits the price; main dish is good for 2-3 -Staff are hardworking and nice -Bathroom is nice as well -Bed is comfortable -Pool is clean Cons: -Place is quite isolated; around 20 mins from the “bayan”, 45 mins from Subic Port The place is so good for a staycation. Just remember to bring snacks and other food that you might want to eat during your stay since there is limited food in the menu available. The front desk is available til 8pm and you can order dinner from 6am-7pm. There are few temples and monuments to see. Just ask the receptionist and they can provide you a map of the BTP or you can avail their tour services. You can also visit the BTP Museum just across the hotel. If you plan on visiting the Bataan Nuclear Powerplant, make sure to book a tour prior to your visit. Overall, our experience was great and memorable. Will definitely go back!

The room we booked was large enough for a group of 12. It was also clean and has complete amenities. Staffs were nice and accommodating. We didn't had any problems during our stay. My family enjoyed the place especially the infinity pool. However, expect rough road going to the resort. The waves were quite high but still safe for swimming. Less crowded beach was a plus despite the holiday. Overall experience was very good. Recommendable place :)

Went on a random trip to Bataan, and was able to book a standard room for cheap. Our side was still under construction as the resort is expanding; the place could have used some safety signs though (there were some rusty nails lying around the hallways). The pools are nice, the beach was also great. If you're looking for a nice enough place beside the sea that will not hurt your wallet, give this place a try.

The property is located inside the Bataan Technology Park, which is a former site of the United Nations Philippine Refugee Processing Center in the 80s-90s. The room where we stayed is newly renovated and larger than expected (we might have received an upgrade). But the overall look of the property and the technology Park need upgrade as some structures are dilapidated. Need vehicle to get around. Property is close to nature (so many trees) and shrines. our stay became an educational tour also.

We had the same day booking, and just like our other bookings in Agoda, it was quick and hassle free. We called on the way to the resort and said we are getting Dormitory for 8 person, the staff who assisted us, is easy to talk to and said she'll prepare the room for us (I think there's still have several rooms available since it's a Sunday to Monday only accommodation). We arrived around 6pm, and I got really annoyed for one of their lady staff who welcomed us, doesn't know nor have any idea of Agoda, and was likely having doubts about our mode of payment. Nevertheless, I do not appreciate the staff in the reception because it's quite obvious that she's not trained well and very rude (aside from the fact that she doesn't know what she's doing. But the other lady staff who accompanied us on the way to our room is as friendly and accommodating as well as the others. So I don't blame the resort, perhaps it's just that one lady who welcomed us. Nevertheless, the room is big and clean, bed are spacious with 2 T&b although i have to comment with the defective shower heads and poor water pressure. Grilling stations are also available. The pool is kinda old and not so deep, perhaps only 5 feet. But I still recommend it to Big groups who just want to have a quick relaxing Bataan getaway.

The location is beautiful. The food is high quality and varied. The staff are very helpful. The room sadly was not as advertised and in a poor state of repair. Should have contained one queen size bed and one queen size bed. It actually had two standard double beds and this made sleeping with our young children quite painful and tiring. The bathroom was in a very poor state of repair. Door handle hanging off, no seat on the toilet, basin tap not fixed to the basin. In summary loved the location, the food and the staff. Hated the room.

My family really enjoyed our stay at Camaya. I didn't expect much because of the reviews I've read due to its location. Yes it is far, it is not Batangas after all. It took us 6 hours to get there but that's because we it was our first time to go to North and we had A LOT of stops. BUT the drive was all worth it. Bataan is beautiful, we loved the scenery and Camaya was every bit worth the long drive. Beach was beautiful, they had a lot of activities for the kids. The hotel room was spacious and clean. The staff were all very accommodating and polite. No extra charges for towels and you get to do a lot of activities free. Food was also great, reasonably priced with huge servings. At night they have someone performing live. Very good dining experience. My kids loved the place and we are definitely coming back!
