Agusan del Norte hotels & places to stay

This was my 2nd visit in Butuan and I decided to treat my self to a nice accommodation. When I saw Butuan Grand Palace on the internet, I felt like this I what I was looking for. When I arrived, the hotel itself was a statement to a growing tourist in the province. Literally, it was grand and I loved it! The staff were very helpful and greets me most of the time. My room was a double standard room and I liked how spacious it was. All the amenities that you are looking for in the room were all there. The wifi was pretty good too! I enjoyed the pool a lot and if you are feeling stressed, they have this chair that massages you and guests can use them for free. The breakfast buffet was also very good and I enjoyed eating dinner while listening to a live acoustic band. Staying at Butuan Grand Palace hotel really made my visit to Butuan memorable and on my next visit, I will definitely stay here again!

We booked 2 rooms separately so this is basically a duplicate review. Its a quiet hotel and the rooms are good values for the money but they vastly overate them self's as a 3 star hotel. Staff is friendly and efficient but they need to revamp the menu. Food and drink is way over priced when you can walk down the street and get a better values for a lunch and dinner menu for half the price of the hotel restaurant. Also you can ride a jeepney or a taxi for 5 minutes to Robinsons Mall Butuan City and get better value for the money food wise. Still its a nice quiet place to ret in Butuan City and I would stay there again

As a foreigner from a developed nation, I must remind myself I'm in a developing country. Thus, I must adjust my expectations and reviews of any hotel I stay in. This is a new hotel in a growing city in the province. It is very nicely decorated, even by Western standards. The lobby is first class. It has a large, well-maintained pool. I'm in a King standard room that is adequately furnished and decorated (except for the exceptionally small refrigerator). The view of the pool from the third floor is quite nice. The cable TV has several premium channels (NatGeo, 3 HBO channels, Cinemax, CNN, Hyper, Fox Sports, Aljazeera, etc.). The Wifi connectivity is above average for the Philippines' provinces (often above 6 Mbps). My complaints are minor and I believe they will be resolved in due time. The water in the shower often has an unusual and unpleasant smell. The free breakfast is a buffet. Unfortunately, I did not eat it most of the time because the food was cold or luke-warm, at best. To be fair, I've recently stayed at another upscale competitor hotel in Butuan that has the exact same food issue. I don't understand the reasons for the best hotels in the city serving cold food on a buffet line since it's a well-known health hazard. I'm optimistic that positive change on the buffet line is coming soon.

Nice, quiet city hotel. Probably a 3-star hotel, but for the price, it's good-value - clean and spacious. From here, you can explore Butuan on foot, or take a ride on the cheap motorbike rickshaw (akin to the tuk tuk). Free hotel shuttle to the airport. The huge Robinsons shopping centre, about 4 kms from the hotel) is opening up probably at the end of 2013/early 2014.

I really don’t want this review to be negative because quite frankly I was as much to blame as the host was for the troubles we had. This is a townhouse in nice subdivision and for some reason there are no numbers on the houses. There are street names which nobody uses. And after asking 6 different people we discovered that people there don’t even know their own address. When we finally found the place and finally got in touch with the host we found we were standing in front of the house but she wasn’t able to tell us that so we had to go to the clubhouse to wait for her. She arrived on a scooter and we had to walk back several 100 metres to where we had already been standing. The host is in Singapore and the phone number is long distance call. Turned out the host forgot that he is registered with Agoda and didn’t believe that we were checking in. The house was acceptable for a one night stay but a royal pain if you want long term stay. Our bonus was we were able to do our laundry.

at first i was kind of hesitant to book at this hotel because of the reviews below that it's outside the city. so i checked google map for its location and decided to give it a try. i was very surprised with this beautiful hotel. its about 5 minutes away from the downtown and very near to butuan city's market. what i like about this place is that it's very quite, very relaxing, the rooms are clean, they serve good free breakfast and the staffs are friendly. i highly recommend gloreto guest house. will definitely stay here once again when i am in butuan city.

very impressed with the cleanliness of the hotel, bed very comfortable, staff pleasant and helpful, room spotlessly clean & cleaned everyday, well located easy access to anywhere in Butuan, have been to 5 star hotels that dont match to this one for the price, gloretto hotel is worth a five star rating, have stay there twice now with no regrets, on the down side the food could do with improvement, but is adequate & local eating places are close at hand.

Love the fact that it has a mini museum and kids can have a glimpse of history of Agusan even for a brief stay. The facade going to the rooms on the second floor is lined with aged woods and vintage decor. The quaint sensation of immersing into an era of the past, the colonial times, is unceasing. A uniquely Balanghai vibe, a feeling of home. Quiet and calm, distant from the buzzling city yet accessible, all the same. Just a jeepney ride to the Gaisano Malls and Robinsons Mall and to Montilla Blvd. Staff are friendly and very helpful.

This is a really cool place, and incredibly cheap. The grounds are really interesting, rope bridges everywhere, and lots of colorful flowers and butterflies out back. My only complaint would be the mosquitos. You really can't go outside after dark, or you become an instant buffet. After I mentioned this, the staff went out of their way to provide repellant burners outside our door, and even brough an electric bug zapper to our room...lol: Great staff, and great prices. I wished we had known from the first night that they own the hotel across the street also: The Balanghai has a nice pool and grounds that Mazaua guests may use free of charge. I would highly recommend it if you are on a budget.

This is not a hotel for more than a day or 2. It is only for sleeping in and cleaning in. Staff are limited and not available after a certain time at night. Room was clean, bathroom acceptable, furnishings are limited and like what you find at garage sales. That being said, the bed was comfortable and the shower was strong and hot after running it for a few minutes. Considering how limited hotels are in Butuan, this was an OK hotel for a very short stay. TV was worthless and did not have any channels and was old. I can't recommend this hotel for anyone having any discerning taste. Everything did work though.

I believe this is currently the newest and best hotel in Butuan. The rooms are very comfortable and very clean. I experienced some problems with the wifi connection (not unusual in the Philippines) and the manager apologized and sent a complimentary drink to my room. The location is a little far from the central part of the city, but a tricycle ride will get you there for 8 pesos. I would definitely recommend this hotel - the prices are very reasonable.

I had an excellent experience and it was precisely what i had expected in almost every regard. The best thing about the hotel in Butuan was the staff, including ther security staff. They were all very friendly, courteous, professional and just very pleasant to deal with, so kudos to the mgr for some great training. Go hotel in Butuan is best suited for the traveler who does not anticipate a long stay; my stay was only for about14 hours.( It is conveniently locate only 15 min drive to the airport in Butuan.) I say this because the rooms are small and best suited for singles or couple even with small child. Although the rooms are small, the care and effort in cleaning was obvious as everything in the hotel was quite clean and neat. The person who designed the hotel was very space conscious, as you will find an abundance of mirrors in the hotel, an obvious effort to make everything look more spacious. I arrived in town at about 1130am....check in is at 2pm. But i had errands to do so went to the hotel right away and asked them if i could just store my luggage there while i did some errands, even though it wasnt my check in time; not a problem i was told, and although i read someplace they charge 50p for storage. i did not pay anything. I returned at aobut 3pm to check in. The lobby is spacious, very clean, TV, newspapers, magaziners and a few ads for extra services around the floor space. The hotel is adjacent to the Robinsons mall, so just 5min walk you will be surrounded by a variety of good places to eat with many choices available. The outdoor cafe right next to the hotel is open till 12 midnight, so nice place to sit and kill time if you are a smoker, as there is no smoking in the hotel. I got all my check in done and went up to my room on the 5th floor, entry is with a key card. There was a superb A/C system as well as cable tv on the wall with dozens of channels. Although I had not asked for it, i had a relatively nice few o f the city from my window, so just

We got a Suite (good for 5 people). The price was 2,200php (2,800php with tax and fees) a night. That means this was a 500+ php per person per night. I wasn't expecting much with this room, as I don't think there exists a decent room for that price. But fortunately, I was wrong! The room was spacious (much much spacious compared to other more expensive hotels), it had tables, a sofa and a Queen sized bed plus 3 extra (free) beddings! The room was really clean and I really felt that perhaps the room was so underpriced. The staff were also nice. If you intend to stay in Butuan, please stay here. It's the best place. Sure, it's not as well known as other hotels but if you want the best value for your money, a perfect location and a clean and nice room- then check out this place. Cons: No pool.

After 12 years, i'm back to butuan.. I was really amaze that this town has improved a lot. It was my first time to try watergate hotel, I love the location of the hotel.. specially, the hotel itself It was Amazing. Love the pool just beside our room and i love the room settings. The only problem is the A/C it was'nt that cold. I had it on a lowest temp on a cold air mode but still doesnt breathe out cold air, its just like a fan mode. Well, anyway, Staff's are very accomodating and helpful too. The cafe serve great food. Would defijitely back here and recommend to my friends and relative when visiting butuan.
