Before booking this budget hotel i saw so many bad comments about room smells like smoke or even steamboat restaurant! And dirty bathroom that smells bad. I took my chance as i need 4 days of budget stay and the first hotel i book for 2 days is charging very high on weekend. During check in it was typhoon day and it doesn’t have a sheltered lobby (its on 9th level of building) thus my cabbie dropped me off and i was drenched wet juz carrying my luggage inside the building and go up to 9th level to check in. JI has 3 hotels nr Ren Min Guang Chang MRT. I chose this one which is very near 第一百货&南京步行街. Upon check in i told staff of the bad reviews i heard. He told me to check out 2 rooms with and without windows. I chose the with window one and to my surprise room smells clean, bed sheets were clean. Pillows might not be very comfy but i slept well!!! And typhoon weather i had to get food. Turn left and 1 min i reach第一百货departmental store with shanghai food! And less than 3 mins reach mrt exit! And all the eateries in nanjing walk 步行街and more departmental stores just beside the mRT exit! Soooooo convenient! Staying along line 2 green line u can go airport straight and easy to get around visitors’ must go places of interests. My ESIM used up i had to buy new esim and the front desk guy helped me take photo of my qrcode so i can scan and activate on my phone! This hotel is quiet and no smell of eateries downstairs. There is 7 eleven on right and few restaurants. I thought i was taking a risk booking 4 nights this hotel but now it has become my favorite hotel!! Even tissue and toilet paper is thick and their bath gel and shampoo smells great!!! Can’t comment for the other two JI hotels nearby as i haven’t stayed there. But this one exceeded my expectations!!!
새벽에 도착해서 만났던 프론트 직원분이 엄청 친절해서 기분이 계속 좋았어요! 디즈니랜드 가냐고 물어보고 차량도 예약해주고, 식당 추천&예약도 해주셨고, 끝까지 챙겨주셔서 너무 감사했어요:) 룸 내에 비치된 다기로 차도 우려먹을 수 있어서 좋았고, 생수도 많이 비치돼있어서 좋았습니다. 어메니티 중 컨디셔너는 없었지만, 칫솔모도 부드럽고 다른 어메니티들은 다 좋았어요. 창문에 설치된 블라인드는 햇빛을 전혀 가리지 못해서 아침마다 눈이 부셨고 화장실 문도 제대로 닫히지 않았지만 다 용서될 정도로 괜찮았습니다. 호텔 1층에 양꼬치집 있는데 늦게까지 영업하고 분위기&맛 모두 좋아요~😋
- The biggest advantage is the location: close to People Square station. Easy to move around, and near the bustling pedestrian street Nanjing Road. - The second advantage: there are 3 chains of very good restaurants below the hotel, but not many people know about them (1 skewered grill, 1 restaurant with excellent beef hotpot, and 1 place for xiao long bao) -> I encourage Vietnamese guests to experience them. - Near the hotel are Hey Tea bubble tea, McDonald's, 711, and next to it is a shopping center (upstairs there is Haidilao hotpot which is quite good). - About the hotel: I regret the lack of toothbrush, hair comb, and safe. And the toilet does not have a bidet. The 3-pin charger type is so I need to use a round one which is somewhat loose and inconvenient, flat is the best. I stayed in 2 types of rooms, the first 3 nights in a 16m2 room (few charging sockets). The next 2 nights I switched to a 22m2 room (more charging sockets hehe). Notably, each room has a huge TV, but I couldn't watch it because the channels seem to have a fee or something. I noticed the cleaning staff are quite friendly, smiling and greeting guests in the hallway. As for the receptionists, they are just at a decent level, polite but not very friendly or enthusiastic (the female staff seem to be better). Breakfast has different dishes every day, but dimsum does not change. (The menu includes: porridge, fried noodles, dimsum, fruits, sandwiches, boiled/fried eggs, steamed potatoes, Chinese-style pastries...) To summarize, the thing I like most and makes me want to return is the convenient hotel location and the restaurants below. As for the amenities in the hotel, I find them normal, not outstanding. Due to the good location, the room rate is relatively high (I booked about 12 million for 5 nights).
This hotel is close, but not too close to all the noise and action. Although the staff did not speak English, we were able to use Google translate to communicate, and they were very polite and friendly The room was clean and small, but well laid out. Breakfast in the morning was great with a good variety. There were robots delivering food to guests. The hotel is also very close to the MRT so you can easily get where you need to go. I liked most that it was close to Nanjing Road so there were several restaurants in the area. Will stay here again if I come to Shanghai IMPORTANT NOTE: there are several hotels with the same name (Ji Hotel) don’t go to the wrong address like I did. Lol

- Location: Right in front of People's Square, close to the subway and easy to get a Didi. There are areas where Didi cannot be picked up, but it's nice not to have to drag heavy luggage. + Haidilao hotpot / Henjiu Yichien lamb skewer shop is 2 minutes away > However, the wait can be 1-2 hours on average and up to 5 hours, so it's possible to leave your WeChat open and go rest at your accommodation. + The lamb skewer shop on the first floor is better than Henjiu Yichien. If the wait is too long, go there. It's open until 1 AM. + There’s a FamilyMart on the first floor which only operates until 10 PM, and the staff are not very helpful. + There’s a Chinese restaurant on the first floor, and in the next building, there’s KFC and a coffee shop, and right across the street is the Shinsegae with Heiti, and below it is the famous Lilian Bakery (egg tarts available). + Other than that, People's Square is just a 5-minute walk from the entrance. - I heard the staff don't speak English, but they understand simple things, and they understand everything when using a translator. If you have a morning flight, early check-in is difficult, so it's best to just drop off your luggage and go out to eat right away. + Thank you for accommodating all requests. All the receptionists and cleaning staff were very kind, which left a lasting impression. - Cleanliness: This was a very important part of choosing the hotel..! There are many complaints about hotels in Shanghai being outdated and having a strong cigarette smell..! This hotel has a complete smoking ban and is very clean, though there may be a slight cigarette smell from other guests. + I did occasionally see someone smoking inside on the first floor, but compared to the rampant smoking elsewhere in Shanghai, I thought this was acceptable. It was very clean, and I stayed for three days with daily cleaning, which was great. They provided plenty of drinking water, so you don’t need to buy any. + However, there is no robe, so you need to bring your own pajamas. + Toothpaste, toothbrush, cotton swabs, shower caps, and combs are provided. + They offer green tea for tea ceremonies. + Body wash, shampoo, and slippers are available. + The hairdryer is a touch model and seems modern, but it sometimes doesn’t work, so if your hairstyle is important, bring your own. + There's a very large mirror that can be turned on/off, good for makeup. There is also a space that functions as a dressing table. - Voltage: You can just bring your devices from Korea (no transformer needed, no adapter needed), but check that your devices are dual voltage ~ it was nice to use my chargers from home. - There’s one USB port and four regular outlets, which is very convenient. - Bedding: I was very satisfied. They provided two pillows, so I used one for my head and one for my legs; one was a regular pillow and the other felt like memory foam? Very satisfying. However, I was disappointed that I didn’t feel the air conditioning working. (I can’t say for sure since it didn’t go to a very low temperature.) Check reviews for summer. + I'm curious if the bathroom ventilation is effective. It’s nice that there’s no sound from the toilet, but it was a bit unclear. In summary, it’s clean, friendly, offers great value, has a good location, very close to good restaurants, convenient for Didi rides, and affordable. Highly recommend. I would definitely go again, 1,000,000% willingness.
