Superb, friendly and helpful staff, gave map of gas lamp district when I inquired about restaurants, staff was smiling and always happy to answer questions and concerns. The view was gorgeous, overlooking the Bay!! I will definitely refer this hotel to friends and family as well as I plan on returning to the hotel as soon as possible! Price was right for a 4-5 star hotel, gas lamp was within walking distance! I will be back hopefully sooner than later!

Pros: prime location in little Italy San Diego. Cons: We were there just one night and there was a tall chalkboard that works on an easel on the floor. It listed all the breakfast for the different days of the week. But it did not state that it was only for guests who booked their stay through PortoVista.com We arrived at the restaurant Sunday morning for the breakfast and we were told that our room was not eligible for the free guest breakfast. I even showed her the board and said that it was very deceiving because it does not state only for certain rooms. I came to find out that it was for that reason that we did not book through their website I cannot understand how a hotel chain would only offer a complementary free breakfast to those who booked through their own site. Business is business and no matter what they are still getting our business so every single guest should be given a complimentary breakfast. upon checking out staff did not ask how my stay was.

The staff make you feel like family. They go above and beyond to make your stay in San Diego the best possible. When you call the front desk they respond by answering with; Hello this is xxx, I can help you with anything. And they do! Late night extra water? Done. Extra towels? Done. Refill of what you were missing at breakfast time? Done. Big shout out to Keith and Marianela who really did everything they could for me and my colleagues! You should go visit them, I hope to really soon. The hotel itself is also lovely with beautifully decorated doors and pineapple details everywhere. It is walking distance to any Gaslamp destination and the convention centre. They have a shuttle service to take you around downtown if you don’t want to walk though. This team has thought of everything! The accommodations are amazing, but it’s really the people who made all the difference! We switched hotels during our stay, we were there on business and were sad to leave. I would 100% recommend!

Was able to catch a great deal on this hotel near the heart of downtown San Diego/Gas lamp quarter compared to nearby hotels outside the area. Proximity to Amtrak station, stores, restaurants was excellent. Also the area felt where hotel located felt safe and fairly quite as it's on the edge of gaslamp where many of the tourist and party goers attend. Rooms was a bit small if 2 people staying in same room, but didn't need much space as was only myself occupying room since traveling for business. And didn't hear any noise through walls or in hall ways, although to be fair i was in a corner room and also not sure if anyone was in room next to me. That being said I recommend paying a few dollars extra if needed to obtain a corner room both for calmness and view. Overall great spot, highly recommend.

True to its name, the hotel is really doing everything it can to make your stay comfortable. The beds are great for a restful sleep and the rooms facilities include a huge selection of tv channels, coffee maker, microwave n fridge. We were pleasantly surprised by the breakfast selection. Although the items were the same everyday, there was enough variety to have different breakfasts for 5 days. Our in room heater was not working but they immediately provided a portable heater at no extra charge and it kept the room toasty. The cheap washer n dryer were a great help. They helpfully stored our luggage at checkout as well as while we went for lunch. Definitely will stay here again. Total value for money.

I greatly enjoyed my stay at the Westin Gaslamp Quarter. Check in was awesome and quick. Parking is valet and a little pricey ($39 per night) but I expected it at least it includes in & out privileges. Perfect location, not totally in the center of the Gaslamp Quarter so it's still quiet but only a short walk away. Small pool, but we are sooo close o the beach why settle for a pool anyway? Would definitely recommend this hotel. My pet enjoyed the stay too. She got her own pet bed from there... She still preferred my bed though.

We stayed here for 4 nights and had a wonderful time here since it was close to everything - trolley stations, bay and restaurants. Breakfast was good with sufficient variety. Hotel staff was great and very helpful. The bedroom was big and had a balcony - only trouble was the noise from the trains when they horned but the train noise could be heard miles away from the railway crossing since they were LOUD. The only problem we had was with the hotel's airport shuttle - we emailed them three times and had no response from them to confirm that they were going to come pick us up at the airport until we telephoned them after we've already arrived in San Diego airport. The shuttle came 15 minutes after that. The manager was quite apologetic about it when we queried this upon check-in.

Since all the high end conference hotels were booked, we were glad to find room at this small inn located about 20-30 minutes walk north of the waterfront convention area. The room and bath were very clean with comfortable linens. Staff were very accommodating, offering a free daily pass for 2 of us to a downtown fitness center within walking distance. Although the breakfast area was tiny, outdoor tables made breakfast enjoyable in the lovely weather. It was within a few blocks walk of the local bus to Balboa Park.

Read a couple of negative reviews after booking and was worried about staying here. Even considered cancelling the non refundable booking! We decided to give it a try and so glad we did. Our room (903) was clean and comfortable, good sized bathroom, safe, fridge and comfy chairs. Within a comfortable stroll to downtown or Bayside and a few minutes from Little Italy. Breakfast buffet was a bit sparce but had everything we wanted. Would most certainly stay here again. Thanks for a great experience.

I checked in on Dec 25th and checked out on Dec 28th. My stay was overall good. Room was immaculate. Staff was all helpful and friendly. The only downside was the very pricey parking fee in hotel ($41/day). Thus, I decided to park somewhere a couple of blocks away from the hotel which costed $15/day. I got terrible experience during my stay in San Diego. I parked my car across the left side part of hotel building. Unloaded stuff, checked in, went to restaurant and went up for a little while. I came down to move the car, however, to my surprise, it went missing. My car got towed away!! I was oblivious of parking my car in front of someone else's driveway. The african american staff on duty in the middle of night 25th to 26th was extremely helpful. He helped me contact towing company, police department and a cab driver. I regret not to figure out his name. I thank him and appreciate his assistance. Ended up paying $318 to redeem my car from the mafia towing company.

We are extremely pleased with our 11 night stay in this Westin Hotel. The receptionist was nice enough to assign an ocean view room to us and the room was beautiful. My wife said the bed was the most comfy one she ever had in a hotel. Breakfast was nice too. You can't find a better loation than this: right in the downtown area and close to everything, but far enough from the noisy gaslamp area so you don't need to worry about being waken up by some loud party in the middle of night. The only things that we are not satisfied with are that only valet parking is available and the free internet will kick you out every hour

Bayside was a great location to walk to the Pier or to Little Italy. Our 1 bedroom room with a sofa sleeper and kitchen had so much space for 3 people. Lots of counter space. The breakfast was delicious with lots of choices, including waffles; the fruit was always fresh and ripe! Loved the coffee and water available in the lobby as well as in the kitchen. Afternoon cookies were a delicious treat. The suppers were tasty as well. The open rooms with fire places on each side of the lobby were pretty and offered ping pong and other games. Wish all hotels could be as clean and comfortable as this one!!

Chris and I travel a lot, and while we may regularly say that we should write reviews, in reality we don’t often do it. On this occasion however, it’s an absolute priority for us that we take the opportunity to thank the team here for a truly wonderful experience. I had pre-arranged with the hotel for some amenities to be in the room (birthday surprise) and they were delighted to help with this. They organised a fabulous combo of cake, fruit and bubbles... thank you again! On arrival an early check-in was organised without hesitation. The room itself was modern and stylish and spacious. The bed super comfy. And we had a great view too! As it so happens, it was an extra special occasion for us (we got engaged!). We shared our news with the team when we checked out, and the sincerity of their joy & congratulations really was the icing on the cake! A special thanks to both Anna & Joanna for everything you did! The Declan Is now Pulse by Marriott... no longer declan so it made me a but confused at first i thought there were two hotels on the same property... but come to find out the place had been changed... there are a few nice upgrades in the room including the microwave and mini fridge in the rooms as well as a nice restroom area in the pool section. Valet service needs some help as they are lacking in the service department, but Looking forward to trying this out again at some point...

My overall experience was satisfactory as the location was prime, the staff was friendly on site and the views were breathtaking. The main con was that when I booked my reservation, I chose the option with a “concierge lounge.” I didn’t know what this amenity entailed so I contacted the hotel to find out and let them know for what day I was booking. It all sounded good so I booked it. The day I checked in was a Saturday and I was then told that they didn’t offer those amenities on a Saturday anyways...It was annoying that staff didn’t tell me this before booking when I called in specifically to ask about the Benefits of choosing that option in the first place. I didn’t want to dwell on that factor and ruin my trip, but I’ll definitely be asking more questions next time.

The Wyndham Bayside is in a great location, right along the waterfront in Downtown San Diego. I loved that we could walk or take a scooter to some of the best places in downtown. Our room was wonderful, felt luxurious, and was well taken care of. The mattress and sheets were good quality. The only thing I would caution anyone with is parking in a downtown hotel. We knew parking would be expensive but $35 on top of what we already paid was quite frustrating. Do your research on parking garages close to the hotel if you want to save money, choose a hotel with parking included, or be prepared to pay $35 per day.
