"To me, this is the best hotel in Ipoh. the quality is tip top. nice rooms - modern concept. fantastic breakfast. best swimming pool. fantastic breakfast. and nice nightlife. because theres a beautiful night life across the hotel. just a 1-2min walk. I totally recommend this hotel to everyone who planning to stay in Ipoh. But i recommend the staff to improve more on their hospitality. And the most important is the management should consider to change the amenities. seriously, the shampoo, lotion and body wash are so terrible. it is not usable at all. that my whole family needs to buy these from outside. because the amenities provided are so useless. "In these years, we have visited Malaysia several times and stayed at many different hotels. French Hotel is the best ever. My family booked two deluxe twin rooms. The rooms are spacious and clean. The wooden floor and lighting are modern and refreshing. Water pressure from the rain shower is terrific. Even the pillows and linen on the queen bed enables us to have a very nice sleep after a whole day's outing. The location is good. There is a bus stop right outside. It worths going for a ride by hopping on a bus there. Among all, the most impressive is the service from the reception. We arrived at the hotel early in the morning. The staff kept the luggage for us and later allowed us early check-in. When we first approached the reception, a young and cheerful lady called Wen speaking fluent Chinese, checked-in for us. Then, she gave us an informative map and introduced in details about where to have food and where for sight-seeing. Remember to empty your stomach before going to Wen as she will tell you about a very big local food court which opens after 4p.m. everyday. The food is really cheap and delicious. Don't miss it or you will regret! All in all, I felt like staying at a 5-star hotel at 3-star cost. For sure, I will stay at French Hotel if I visit Ipoh again. I will give it full mark if the room can keep a mini fridge. "

"My second stay here. No frills hotel with strategic location. Parking is at hotel basement, plus point as other Ipoh hotels usually do not have own parking ie you have to park at roadside parking. Near to a mamak restaurant and a famous Chinese restaurant just downstairs. Room is small and door to close really hard to get it locked. Other than that it’s a fine hotel. Will return and recommend to others"

" We didn't expect our hotel experience to be so good, given the price! Our bus arrived in Ipoh 2 hours early and just as we thought we would be stranded at the bus station, a call to D Eastern's front desk revealed that we can check-in as early as 830am because a room was already available. Wow, which other hotel does that?! Not any that I know of! We stayed there for 3 nights. The first thing my friend and I did was to ask for their Wifi password (we were on holiday but still needed internet for survival haha) and the internet connection in the room was stable and fast. We requested for extra pillows which was given to us at no extra charge. They also replenished our bottled water daily because we drank like horses. We bumped into the cleaning lady and she was so sweet. She also made our beds very nicely. We asked the staff to recommend us some attractions in Ipoh and we followed their advice. A money changer and a conveniece store is located right beside the hotel's restaurant. We weren't aware that the hotel had a restaurant, because it said on most websites that they were in the process of making one. The breakfast buffet is local food. For RM 7, you can eat to your heart's content. But we prefered the ala carte offerings which are only available for lunch and dinner. To give you an estimation of the cost, one plate of fried rice costs about RM4 and if you want something fancier like lamb chop that will cost you RM8. The prices are so reasonable that for some of our meals, we decided to just eat at the hotel's restaurant instead of venturing out. We would definitely come back to stay at Ipoh hotel. The only negative was that the rooms have no safety deposit boxes so we carried our light valuables around. Still though, I think you can ask the front desk to help you store some valuables which you don't want to carry with you. Early check out is possible too at this hotel. We highly recommend it!"

"Came over to ipoh for the first time in my life to try the nice food. Picked this accommodation because the price was attractive. Arrived on day 1 afternoon around 3pm. Welcomed by the staff. No counters, just a meet and greet and handover of key to the room and a access card for the entrance main door. Deposited rm50(which was returned upon check out). My wife and i stayed on the highest floor. The room was simple, a bed, a small table, a mirror, air conditioning, air purifier (windowless), bathroom (complete with hot shower, a mirror, soap and shampoo dispenser and sit down toilet of course. And the water pressure for the shower was good). Two room slippers and two bath towels were provided. Only thing missing was a kettle to boil water and the rooms had thin walls so you will hear other people closing their doors, speaking loudly and some traffic along the main road. Plenty of power sockets in the room for your handphones, laptops, pads etc. No daily housekeeping to make your bed or empty your waste basket, but we didnt mind. The room was clean (which was most important). Another comment was the hotel location was not identified under Grab, so we used Yayasan Perak (which was just next door to the hotel) as our picked up point. Most food locations like Chendol, Taugeh chicken hofun/rice, egg tarts, kaya puff, dim sum were 10-15mins walking distance. For the price and cleanliness, i would come back. For the location, it was ok. For my next visit i may look for a location nearer to all the food places, which means i might have to sacrifice the price. Good Stay"

"The best thing is the great location. DG is near to many famous restaurants in Ipoh Old Town. The bunch of Ipoh White Coffee coffee shops are about 5 minutes walk away. Other delectable Ipoh hawker fare are nearby also. While the nearby mosque prayers may be an issue for some, we don't find it too much of a bother. The room is clean, new although we complained that the hot shower is not working and the hose kept dropping off from the shower head. Other than that, it was a pleasant stay. Certainly will come back again."

"A beautiful and charming hotel in Ipoh's historical old town. Loved the decor and the really wonderful staff who were better than many 5 star hotels I have stayed in. Location is great as you can walk to some of the best hawker food in Ipoh and also to the lovely cafes popping up nearby. It is also walking distance from the train station."
