This hotel is probably the most "advanced" in Ipoh hence possibly the most expensive. Pro: near Ipoh Parade (shopping mall), Tong Sui Kai (food street for dinner). Overall very clean and all facilities functioning well. Breakfast is excellent! Cons: not very sure how often they change bedsheet - I made request to change on the 3rd day after finding out thay they haven't done it. It lacks "do not disturb" and "please clean room" sign, hence not very convenient. The location is at the east of new town hence going to old town requires uber for sure (old town is in the west). Overall this is quite a good place to stay in and we'll come back when going to Ipoh next time.

Our 4 nights stay at the hotel were really worth it. Everyday staffs never miss to ask us whether we want the room to be cleaned. All staffs including guards were with smile, polite and friendly. Although the hotel did not serve breakfast, no need to worry as there are malay restaurants nearby to choose from. There is also self service laundry and clinic at the area. However, the hotel could improve on room and bathroom cleanliness. Other than that, all are satisfied for the reasonable price we pay. One piece of advice is to book through agoda as the price would be way cheaper compared to when you walk in to the hotel. Well done Golden Roof Hotel!

Excelsior is centrally located and excellent starting point for visitors . Walking distance to all the foodies joints - top 3 dim sum restaurants is right behind the hotel 1 minute walk, "tauge chicken", supper joints - opposite the hotel and food street ( 5 minute). Ipoh Parade shopping mall is 5 minute walk. Front desk are well trained and understand the guest needs, quick check in. Room is a huge surprise - excellent bathroom - shower stall can be improved with an additional glass door, wet floor.Room size is more than expected and ample space and well appointed. For the room rate - no need to go to IBIS, Cititel ( wrong location), Heritage (is too far away without car ), Seemsoon is located in the wrong and quiet part of the city. The price and value equation - Excelsior is definitely the best for its guests. Recommend visitor to try, stay in the rear rooms as road noise can be disturbing.

The hotel room is really huge. We booked the family room which can easily accommodate 4 pax. There are two washroom which is really convenient to us. Bathroom itself is bigger than most hotel rooms in the market. It’s new and comfortable. There’s a clinic that opens everyday from 8.30am to 10.00pm except Thursday which is really convenient in case of emergency. There are also eateries and cafe as well as a little pub, all located next to the hotel which is really nice especially when you dont plan to drive to town. It is not in the centre of the town so you wont get stuck in traffic but close enough if u r driving. Two thumbs up!!!

Good & satisfied. The Deluxe King room is big enough for 2 adults & 2 kids but furniture are old. The hotel nice but need renovation. Rooms are very comfortable. Breakfast very simple not worth having breakfast at hotel. Its just a walking distant can look for some local food. I dont see any public transport at that area or even taxi. Ipoh food cheap & nice. Must try all local food there. Musang King durian cheap there. Walking distant there is alot of bridal shop if anyone have function you may go to the bridal shop for hair do & make up cheap is only RM80.

Due to the incredible services by this hotel, i make an effort to write this review just to let u all know about this hotel. I choose this hotel due past good reviews and seriously this is the best 3 stars hotel i ever meet. If u have budget around rm200 and looking for a place in ipoh, straight away book this hotel, u will not regret. believe me! We book 3 rooms in new renovated room and all of us are really happy n satisfied. We arrived late night at the hotel, the service started when we park, they guide us during the parking. Then the receptionist was very friendly and the best ever words " there are 2 cans drink inside the fridge and it is foc, u can drink " . Then when we enter the room, suprisingly with less than rm200, the room equiped with bath tub!!! My twins are so happy with this. Then the next morning, they served brekafast ala carte, i believed because there is not much customer. But seriously the breakfast awesome! The coconut rice just nice and the american breakfast is delicious!!! not to forget the coffee.. i drink it twice !! so for those looking for a hotel in ipoh, please book renovated room in this hotel. U will not regret. believe me!!

In a birds eye view, this hotel is wonderful. Great interiors, feel very cozy. Staffs are friendly. I do enjoy my stay. However, on a closer look, you will see dust in a lot of places, which i cannot agree with. Almost every where I look, I can expect to see dust, not little dust, but dust you can tell has been there for some time. With such great interiors that has a lot of decorating items, up keeping it is a challenge and thus a huge commitment on the management, the moment they say 'OK' to the designers that came up with such ideas. If you are not prepare for such maintenance, then you shouldn't go ahead with it just for the wow factor. If not, this place will look run down in no time. For instances, the bed side table, if you look closely, a lot of dust collected in the nooks & crannies that I felt uncomfortable having it so close right next to my pillow, thus I moved it far away as i do not want to be sniffing those dust in while i sleep. Same goes to other furniture & decorations. Even the retail item I bought has some dust collected on its packaging. Toilet overall is clean until I look at the yellow stains on the covers of that 'water drainage hole' that makes me question whether the toilet was really scrubbed & cleaned at all. Toiletries like shampoo bottles has signs of being used by previous users (thus, again I questioned if they even change a new bottle every time someone checks out. Or at least wipe it clean, & not let the shampoo that drips out dried around the bottle) As for the Myth Cafe. Again, same issue. Dust everywhere on the deco. Food wise is tasty but I cannot agree with the dust. I sat near a huge 'plant' deco (in front of the drinks counter) for dinner 1 night. Throughout my dinner, small bugs keep flying around disturbing me enjoying my dinner. On the day I checked out, I had breakfast at the cafe again. Sat along the windows, overseeing AEON mall. 1st thing I see, is the spider web on the corner of a 'pillar' just 10cm away from m

Pros: Lovely staff and excellent cleaners! The daily room makers were exceptional with tidying up! They offered bottled water and really amazingly delicious freshly cooked breakfast. The food selection may be small, but it is more than sufficient as you could choose a new dish daily. They wait till you wake up and come to the dining area. The location is good for Ipoh Old Town (grab ride away) and also 20 minutes from Ipoh Sunway City, so technically they are central. We took a grab ride into Tanjung Rambutan Old Train Station - KTM Raiway for amazing street food that was actually tasty! Especially the Satay by Mina (a tiny vendor by the street - hygienic enough for my sensitive stomach! Cons: They have only a select room, so choose the room that you want - we opted out of the pond and water view room due mozzies! The rooms next to the reception is noisy for light sleepers. The rooms are terribly dim (spa style lights), I had major trouble looking for things and getting ready.

(dlm hati i mmg syukur sgt) tq hotel. Kolam renang kids ada, kolam renang dewasa pon ada.. Cafe? Yes!!! Cafe superb modern and mknan sume so yummy.. !! Staff cafe pon friendly.. Bilik family room sy ok kemas, bersih. Just suara tv skjp tengelam timbul.. Wifi dlm bilik x kuat mybe sbb jauh dri lobi. Some day i'll come again. In sha Allah

We arrived really late due to traffic, so we couldn't get a non-smoking room, yet the staff offered us an air purifier/ionizer and let us have it for the rest of our stay! Really good service. Rooms are small but very pretty and modern with very high standards for housekeeping. Breakfast was a surprise! It was simple but very nice. It would be even better if they had a pool but for this price it's already wonderful. A lot of restaurants around, and a short walk to Jalan Sultan Iskandar, the "food street" as well. We left some clothes and a tablet in the room, and although they did not tell us, they displayed incredible service and attitude and couriered the objects to us (we travelled to KL) within two days, charging only RM15 for it!(Around 2 USD) Thank you Steven and Louis (I think?)!! You guys were very helpful and nice.

We booked a double superior but were only given a standard room with single beds as reception claimed Agoda had not provided booking details and they were full over Chinese New Year. That said, we were in the new wing and it was a very spacious room and well maintained, certainly when compared to similar star rated Malaysian hotels. Reception staff were always helpful with taxi bookings etc. The Breakfast included was Asian style buffet and wouldn't appeal to Western taste. The hotel was a little 'remote' but there were plenty of taxis on call to go into the City or to the various natural tourist attractions.

3 of us hired Ian to bring us for 1 day tour (food & sightseeing) with his car. he charged us rm40/hour. I must say that it is value for money. early in the morning,he brought us to residential estate for very good wat-tan-hor and cheap. after breakfast he brought to gua tempurung-a big cave. he then brought us to have chee-cheong-fun and otak-otak for lunch. they are home made and delicious too. ordinary tourists will never find these places. even they found it, they will have to wait for very long time to be served (min. 1 hour). as Ian has good relationship with them, we did not wait long. after that he brought to the famous white coffee-nam heong c-shop where we tried very good egg tart too. he brought to walk around old/new town of Ipoh and tasted fomous dessert named funny mountain "tou-hue"-bean curd. we bought some local tit-bits, and went back to hotel for a rest as the kid was a little tired. we went out for dinner with him after 2 hours rest. he brought us to a local food centre named "dong-gu-teng" where we a wide variety of local food and they are delicious too. we hired his service for total 8 hours and I must say that we have got everything done conveniently. he is so friendly that I would make a strongly recommendation.

First impressions this hotel it's looks like on the pictures. Beautiful with classic concept. Amenities really good quality, got sandal as well, everything was really good. Beside the hotel, there's a boutique for woman and that's really good quality and worth prices. This hotel is new because some of the things are still under maintenance, such as cafe and restaurant but you can find seafood restaurants side of this hotel. I wish I can stay more longer. Weekness of this hotel : 1. The staff, woman receiptions staff don't know about anything. Need proper training for staff. 2. A bit noisy, among the sides room. Keep going to be better ☺️

We booked only for a night over weekend. The hotel is new, clean & at a fairly good location. It's near Tesco & Aeon. Also a short distance drive to other tourist attractions (e.g. Old Ipoh Town, Concubine Lane, temple caves, all the famous eateries, etc, etc). The hotel staff were friendly & helpful. They serve good breakfast at the New Yorker Cafe too. The cafe is quite a cozy place with friendly & courteous staff. The cons are; room quite small & we could smell smoke in our room despite all rooms being non-smoking. Not sure where it came from though. However, they responded fast by offering to spray air fresher in our room, well, at least action was taken. Aside from these 2 areas, the rest are fine. Overall it's a good place to stay for short holidays.

The hotel surprisingly upgrade my room to Brewster Executive Suite from Brewster Studio. Room is super spacious with jacuzzi that can fits 2 person in the room. Well service from the front desk staff. Ordered in room dining but need to wait around 30-40 minutes. Nice view at the infinity pool and The Lawn. In addition, they have special lounge at Level 12 for all level 12 guest, that’s lovely and convenient. Anyhow, the choices not as much as the Ground floor lounge but it’s more than enough for us.

I book the executive suite and it is so worth it. Very spacious and clean. Usually only 4 and 5 stars hotel provide king bed but this hotel also provide king bed. Within walking distance, there are nearby 7-eleven ,some food stall during the day, delicious yong tao fu nearby, 20 mins drive to Ipoh. Staff are friendly too. I call desk for toilet roll, and they bring up within 2 mins.

Very professional and friendly service at reception, giving us directions and food tips. We booked 1 triple room earlier, and upon seeing the availability of a quad suite room, we booked it and cancelled the triple room, but somehow it was not captured. Upon checkin the staff and the boss himself was very kind to explain to us that they received 2 bookings instead of one. And upon understanding there was an error, they took the initiative to contact Agoda to explain the situation and ask for cancellation. We could have been charged for an extra room if not for their extra effort and professionalism. Room is big and clean too, with free parking within their compound.. Though it is a basic hotel, the service more than make up for it. Location is near Tambun Lost World, Jusco Kinta and NS highway. 5~10 min drive to Ipoh town, good if you are driving as there are very few cabs in Ipoh. WE will definitely go back again.

This hotel just newly open in Jan2016. Room was not really big but clean. No light box signboard at this hotel so it a bit difficult if u reach there at night time. No restaurant nearby by walking distance but u can find 24 hours fast food restaurant by driving 2 mins. Everything is good in this hotel and the best part is Astro channel was provided as well but the wifi connection was on and off failure.

I booked the room on the same day of arrival. My wife is attending a medical conference in another hotel in ipoh . We have to be there early morning next day.since the room is fully booked so we decided to stay in aestana a day befor the conference. We came with 2 small kids 1yr n 3yr old n arrived around 1am after departed frm kl at 9pm. The staff were very helpful n they were expecting us at the front door. They helped us with the luggage n accompany my wife n my sleepy kids to the room immediately. the check out was fast n the staff gave us a good direction to the conference hotel. Room is although small but its clean n makes us feel safe n satisfied with the reasonably cheap hotel rate that we paid. Thank you.

if you are a traveller, solo or business, looking for a private comfortable place to stay, with small budget, you can choose to stay at this hotel. It provided room for single person with very value for money. And also, book with agoda because agoda offer the lowest price to stay. For me, i satisfied with the room i stay. just nice for a single person. With private bathroom. The price is almost similiar to sharing room. Only that this place is located quite far from ipoh town. Which is about 20-30 mins to reach to ipoh town. But for food, it easy to find as this place is near to tesco and aeon. And there are variety hawker stall especially for chinese. For malay, there are also a lot of restaurants nearer. And, please bring your own hanger, as there are no hanger provided 😊. Overall, i am satisfied. Sure will come again.

to begin with, this must be the most comfortable budgeted hotel rooms we ever stayed in. we booked the cheapest room (twin room without window) and to our suprise it is not another matchbox, the room is spacious, shower is great and the design was lovely. as this hotel had a cafe counterpart, while we did not ordered anything, the pricing looked decent. the staffs were really friendly and helpful as well! parking is not a hassle as there are ample parking spots available. the only downside to this hotel is that, it is a 5-10 min drive away from the city center, unless u plan to take a cab/ drive, it is not as convenient as the other budgeted hotel. however, we do like the quiet ambience (it is located just outside the city center afterall)

Set in a residential neighbourhood and next to a large school compound, you won't be blamed for thinking that you have taken a wrong turn. The locals call it a home-stay. It is cosy indeed. Guests meet and chat in the common area. Cable TV is located there as well. Breakfast is fusion, like those served in better KL cafes. A lot of wood is used throughout the hotel with a very natural application. The furniture is sourced from trees cut down in the course of urban development. Although we stayed in a chalet, please don't expect a living room. It was a regular hotel room size with a balcony overlooking a koi pond.

Love the clever design of this boutique hotel. From the design of the facade to the doors right up to the rooms. Everything is provided in the room and the super clean bath n toilet with rain shower. The material use is like 5 stars luxury hotel. The toilet floor tiles is so classy looking. If thrown in super soft cotton towels this hotel will be the best in whole of Ipoh. Their cafe Cawanmu next door is very nice for enjoying breakfast. Although the breakfast spread is minimal but very adequate and of good quality. Bought their Coffee Swiss roll and its delicious! Their service staff is excellent. Everyone of them is so friendly. Thanks! Location is around 15-20 minutes drive to town but not a drawback when this hotel is really value for money for what they provide.

i have nothing to complain. Everything is value for money. Strategic location just across AOEN shopping mall, beautiful interior, comfortable beds, clean & new hotel (clean toilet is a plus point!) Kiblat sign for prayer is available in the room. However, there is no appropriate space for prayer (the only space available is just right beside the toilet). Perhaps the management can consider to prepare a prayer room (surau) in the hotel then i would give a full 5 marks for this hotel! will stay again. The best 2star hotel thus far.

Well i stay at this hotel 3 nights for business trip, and for solo travelling it is quite good. Clean room and friendly staff, it just that you don't have much choice on the cable TV channels. Wifi provided, quite fast and it is advisable if you could bring along your own cable extension (the room i stayed has power socket way far from my bed, even a laptop charger could not stretch enough). Overall it is a good place to rest after a whole day working :)
