"The rooms are big with all mod cons, nice shady verandas and each room is a separate unit so they feel quite private. They also had hot showers which are quite hard to come by in Thailand! The maid service was very thorough and regular. There is a very inviting swimming pool with comfortable loungers and a view of the beach. All the staff were very helpful. It's not the world's most stylish hotel but ticks all the boxes for a good beach base, would be good for families too given the size of the rooms. We didn't eat in the restaurant so I don't know how that fares I'm afraid. Railay is a small place which has something for everyone. West Railay where the hotel is based is a beautiful wide white sandy bay surrounded by amazing cliffs, only accessible by boat from Ao Nang (about 20 mins). Hotels line the back of the beach, there is also a cocktail bar and a grocery shop, and a VERY expensive Western restaurant but that is about it. From the hotel you can take a 10 minute walk to Phra Nang beach which is another lovely spot, popular with climbers, lots of cliffs and rocks in the sea, only one (posh) hotel but also lots of long tail boat shops selling food and all the usual beach paraphernalia. There's also East Railay which is much more rough and ready and where all the backpackers stay - some nice chilled out bars and cheap places to eat - all about a 5 minute walk from West Railay. And if you get bored you could always get back on the long tail and go to Railay's neighboring beach, Ton Sai or back to Ao Nang - cheap easy and regular! There are also snorkeling trips and ferries leaving for the other islands from here - beware the mid-sea transfer from long tail to ferry, quite a bizarre experience! All in all a relaxed and beautiful beach retreat, highly recommend it."

"We absolutely loved this hotel. It's in Railay West, which is arguably the best beach in Railay. Some would say Princess beach is better (Ao Phra Nang) , but it's also smaller, is further away from restaurants and only has one very high priced resort to stay at (Rayavadee), so my vote goes for Railay West. So, the location of this hotel is excellent, with the lobby and restaurant looking out onto the beachfront, framed by gorgeous cliffs. The rooms are tucked away into the interior of the resort in a beautifully manicured tropical garden. We stayed at the jacuzzi villa, which was very comfortable and well-designed. One drawback is that there are quite a lot of mosquitoes at night in the property, but this can be said of Railay generally; make sure you don't leave the door to outside open and close the bathroom door and you should be fine. the staff are delightful and friendly and made us feel at home. They even upgraded us from poolview to jacuzzi suite at no extra cost - truly wow!"

"The east side of the Railay peninsula, where the hotel is, is full of mangrove so no beach time there, but the walk to the west side and to the stunning phra nang beach is just 10 minutes long. All the rooms overlook the long pool and the ground floor ones have direct access to the pool through a large wooden deck balcony; this was really a great feature of our room and I would recommend spending those extra money. The materials and furniture used inside and outside the rooms are of good quality and nicely thought out, the rooms are very big and the bed is one of the best we've ever tried in south east Asia. It's is a nice to see that so much effort and attention has been paid to the design and landscape of this place. We tried the 250 bath buffet breakfast and were pleased with it; sure it's well above the normal price in other places along Railay East, but this is not a backpacker place: the open restaurant is well designed, staff is friendly, you pay for the cleanliness and for better food so it's definitely worth it. They currently have special offers because the hotel is recently opened and the value-for-money is very high. I would go back."

"This place was wonderful. Right on the water, though not a swimming beach, but you could watch the sunrise in the morning. It was only a 10 minute walk along the beachfront to rock climbing and another 5 to phra nang cave and swimming beach. The pool was nice and cleaned daily. The hotel is right on the water but the rooms run out away from the beach so even at night when loud parties were going on we couldn’t even hear it. The staff were great and so accommodating. We arrived 11 pm to Ao Nang beach and because of Ramadan were told we couldn’t get a boat. This we rented hotel room there and arrived the next day. When we got there they said no problem and just switched the start date of our 4 night stay so we didn’t lose a day. Very helpful and very friendly. Restaurant on site was significantly cheaper than other places we checked as well so that was a bonus. "

"It was low season and peacefully quiet with only a smattering of guests noticeable throughout the day, at the pool and resort restaurant. Staff is friendly and professional. The resort provides boat shuttles and airport pickups, everything went smoothly. The stylish modern treehouses are impeccably clean with rustic earthy charm, perfect for those seeking budget boutique experiences. It's the last resort on the stretch, situated a bit higher up than most, and comes with a lovely balcony with an unobstructed view, within sight of the ocean past all the foliage. The resort is private yet only a short walking distance to amenities and the attractions of pristine beaches and cliffs and caves. Great food, cocktails and hammocks at Tew Lay, then further to Railay East there's Joy Pizza (addictive thin crust pizza and cheap but good cocktails) and other bars and restaurants. Railay West is nearby, with more touristy shops and beach. Best beach is Phra Nang, a smaller and more secluded spot. All in all, a lovely and romantic getaway spot ideal for those on a budget, seeking a modern, relaxing and fuss-free getaway on paradise beaches."

"My family and I stayed in one of the Superior Cottages at Railay Phutawan Resort for 5 nights over the Chinese New Year holiday. Our cottage had plenty of room for two adults + one extra bed for our daughter. The first night our AC wasn't working, but they had it fixed by the next day. Never had any problems in our room after that. (Although, do note that WiFi is pretty hit or miss here!) Basics were provided in the bathroom and one bottle of free water was provided for each person every day of our stay. Our cottage was #1210, right next to the offices and pool area, so we really had no view to speak of. Many of the other cottages have better views, so be sure to request one of those if it matters to you. On the plus side, I think our location spared us some of the bug issues others have mentioned in their reviews! We enjoyed the resort's buffet breakfast each morning and appreciated that it remained open from 7:30am to 11am, for those mornings we wanted to sleep in. (Breakfast is better the earlier you go, though!) The food available stayed mostly the same for our whole stay, but it was hot, tasty, and filling so we didn't mind. Despite going over a holiday, the resort didn't feel particularly crowded and we were always able to find a lounger by the pool when we wanted to go. Speaking of the pool, it's a huge selling point for the resort. The view is incredible, but there is also zero shade there, so going earlier or later in the day is more comfortable. If you're up early enough, sunrise is quite pretty from the pool area or the deck above the resort's offices! It's a pretty good walk to the beaches - Railay West and Phra Nang - and Walking Street where many restaurants are, but the pay-off of being so far from the busy areas is that it's super quiet here. We never heard anything except roosters from our cottage, so sleep quality was great! Be mindful on the path leading past Diamond Cave to the resort, though - the monkeys are always watching and waiting to g"

"One of the best Backpackers I've ever stayed in (Don't let the staircase to the sky scare you) I've travelled and stayed in a lot of backpackers.. Blancos has definitely got it right. There's a mixture of different age groups and nationalities and the staff are very hard working and pretty awesome. Each member of staff has their unique quality that helps to make guests feel very welcome. It is known as a party hostel, however all party is often taken out of the hostel itself after 10pm and you can choose wether to join in or not, no one will try to persuade you. I stayed for 6 days and never once did any party wake me up. There was a pretty yukky incident that did disturb my stay one night in the dorm but that is to be expected. The incident was dealt with discreetly, professionally and extremely efficiently as soon as staff were made aware of the incident. Thank you Blancos staff for an awesome Budget, fun and memorable stay.. how i would love to be there now "
