The facility in the hotel quite good. The water pressure is good. Just the bed a bit soft. Walking distance to Concubine Lane and my favourite Lim Kopi. Beside the reception counter a vending machine that sell a lot of stuff at reasonable price such as soft drink, compact T-shirt, fold able bag etc. Air-con is acceptable cold. Should provide in house slippers. Limited parking with 2 layer parking. If you park at the bottom you need to left your at the guard house.

Location was really good. Near famous restaurant like Fu San, Meng Kok, Lou Wong, Onn Kee, Aun Kheng Lim etc. You can choose to walk though it'll take around 15-20mins or 10mins if you drive. The air-conditioning & The bed were excellent. Pillow is a bit soft but the hotel provide 2 each for the guest. Our room wasn't as sound proof as I had hoped for. Wifi was not very stable.

It was a tune hotel previously ( hotel keycard has tune hotel logo) but it was slightly rundown in the room. First thing when I got into the room was the strong smell of the pillows! Oily smell of the pillows put me off but there were no phone in the room and there was only one keycard given hence if I were to complain at reception meaning I have to either go along with the other person I'm staying with to the lobby or leave that person in the dark in the room. So I didn't complain coz it was just one night stay. Toilet was basic with amenities like shower gel shampoo and toothbrush. Bathroom sliding door was broken (bottom of the door out of the latch) but didn't bother me. Fan's remote control not in the room, have to get it from the lobby otherwise the fan will be at full blast all the time. Room was small but commensurate with what I pay. Location directly in front of famous seafood restaurant pusing public but too full even on weekdays. We drove to nearby famous moonlight hor fun , nam seng white coffee and aun kheng lim salted chicken which is only 4-6 min drive away, I think it's walkable within 11 min walk. Parking was great with indoor basement parking and roadside parking is plenty too. I might stay again for the location, but might request for a pillow change next time.

I was surprised at how centrally located the hotel was. Pub street was just behind, far enough so you don't hear the loud music from your room, but close enough to just take a 2 minute stroll to some of the best nightspots in town. It was also relatively near to a lot of the famous food shops. Two of the best dim sum in town are just a 4-minute walk away, perfect way to start your day. We took the triple room, and there was even a balcony. And the bathroom was so huge. Free drinking water too, just bring your own bottle down to the lobby to fill up. Also they had several reserved parking spots for guests at the back of the hotel, perfect if you are driving and do not want to pay for public parking by the roadside. I would really recommend this hotel, especially for other Malaysians making a short trip to Ipoh.

Our main satisfaction factor is that this is a very strategic, comfortable hotel yet reasonably-priced. All the facilities are decent and comfortable with very clean surroundings, although there are inconsistencies (not all rooms have fridge or hair-dryer). In terms of location, it is so strategic that we managed to cover so many famous shops by just walking on foot from the hotel without having to drive. For example, the Funny Mountain Taufufah, biscuits shop Sin Eng Heong, Aun Kheng Lim Salted Chicken, Tong Sui Kai and Ming Court Hong Kong Dimsum. Probably a minor feedback on the hotel administration process, which is not efficient enough. The process of checking in and checking out takes longer than necessary.

As Hotel is centrally located, we tried most of the famous food in Ipoh like the Ipoh Salted Chicken which was delicious, Ipoh Fluffy Kaya Puffs of Sin Eng Heong (which we had to queue for about 1 hour to buy it), Soya bean drink & the 'tau fu wah' is nice (also long queue). It's all within walking distance of hotel. Don't forget to try Dim Sum Restaurants behind hotel's way. Hotel did not introduce any sightseeing package so didn't go cos all located outside town centre which need transport.

Location -- downstairs is Pizza Hut, and KFC is right opposite the hotel. "The Store" departmental store is just 2 mins walk away. A lot of eateries nearby, but those famous ones (lou wong bean sprout chicken, etc) requires 5-10mins. Room -- we booked two triple rooms. The one located at the corner is spacious. The bed is comfortable and clean, aircon is cold. Kettle is provided, with sachets of 3-in-1 coffee. The only thing to be improved is that the toilet seat and the floor around basin is always wet because there isnt any "door" between the shower and the basin/toilet. Would come back again for the price paid.

I had a bit of a hiccup checking in - looked like my payment didn't go through in their system (I booked through Agoda but it was showing Booking.com) so I just had to confirm that I didn't pay and paid upon my arrival. The rooms were very clean and just what anyone needs when traveling for just a few days. Otherwise, the staff was incredibly accommodating and SO kind. One of the staff members let me borrow his personal iPhone charger when I realized I forgot my adapter for the outlets. Then unfortunately, I was mugged walking down the street in a bad neighborhood and (who I believe was) the owner of the hotel came to find me at the police station to be by my side and help if needed. He also changed my room (upgraded nonetheless) since the robber had my hotel key. I will be forever grateful to this hotel and their staff, as they made me feel so very much at home at a time that I was wishing I was not in this city at all. Thank you very much Brick Box!!

It's not a luxury hotel. It's an cozy & comfortable budget hotel that's located at the heart of the Old Town - this shall enable covering the Mural Art Lanes and all the heritage buildings by walk. If the requirement is to find a decent place to Lodge for a few days, while most time will be spent in visiting places in Ipoh, then this should be the best option. Comes with a bare minimum breakfast (couple of bread slices and coffee/tea) but they plan to increase options I reckon. They've a nice piano in their lobby, few books to read and a small shop got a quick bite / drink. Fully covered with WiFi and rooms come with TV and AC. There is no parking on the premises. There are paid slots outside so pls be sure to grab parking tokens from 7/11 or happy marts. Overall it was a pleasant stay and will definitely consider future stays as well.

Had a one night stay during my recent business trip. Everyone was saying that this is the best hotel they had ever stay of all the business trips we travelled around Malaysia. Back to this hotel, I would say the location is quite strategic and there is a shopping mall beside this hotel. This hotel is quite near to Penang bridge so if you opt to travel to the island for a visit is definitely not a major issue but provided you must have a car to travel around to try the local food. Hotel room is spacious, clean, modern, air-conditioner is very cooling, touch and go security to access to the rooms, free wifi provided, security box, breakfast was good and comparable to Cititel Penang and Bayview Hotel in the island. This hotel is a much better choice for both business or family vacation as compare to the opposite road Pearl View Hotel which is a nightmare for me.

I mentioned the three best things and the three worst were, 1 There was an ant problem in the room, 2 there was a problem with the phone system so we were constantly getting incoming calls, booking enquiries etc! 3 on our last nights stay there were hoons treating the street outside like a drag strip, very noisy!! But having said that I would recommend and would use the hotel again myself.

If you are looking for a simple, cost-effective place to stay with basic facilities (like place to rest/bath) for a night or 2, this is a good recommendation. This is not a luxury hotel but provide good services for basic hospitality needs. Pros: - Walk over the street abt 100meters to "Tong Sui Kai" for full range of street food. - Famous eateries like "Low Wong" bean sprout chicken, Funny Mountain soya bean, Salted Chicken all at walkable distance. - Big shopping center AEON is just 5min walk away. - Ample private car park for abt 10+ cars. - Hotel provide water kettle if you ask them. Take note this is classic hotel (80's feel) with basic facilities. Don't compare with 3-5 stars hotel. Wifi available but signal low at corner rooms. Good for its price & location. Recommended for just a quick stop for a night or two.

Shared room & toilet. Would be better if male & female are seperated. Washroom is seprated though. No tv but lovely staff invited me to watch Olympic Badminton Final with him at the lobby. Perhaps they can invest 1 tv at common area. Location is perfect. Very near to the places I can get my breakfast & also salted chicken, all within 1 min. Walking distance to many cafes too.

The toilet of 1st floor is what they shown but it was totally different for the 2nd floor, not as nice as what I thought. There is only 1 hair dryer in the hotel and the sound system is bad. You can hear every little sound from next door and the parking is quite dangerous as the garage is in a back street although the receptionist wait for us until we got into hotel after parking. But so far so good but not recommend for elder to stay as they have to use stairs.

excellent hotel! we already have lived here for five days. staff are so friendly and always give us good advice. This room is the most biggest room we live and the cheapest as well. Even the location is in old town so you have to walk to city 10-15mins. If you have limited budget and enough time, I really recommend you stay here! air conditioning is good, space is big, room is clean. price is affordable. it's really nice hotel! And it's easy get Uber or Grab. so don't worry about transportation. 😁
