Booked their newer room as we wanted to soak in our private tub so bathroom is as big as the bedroom. Windows could use a proper cleaning and there were some food remnants (left by birds?) on the aircon condenser outside the window. No amenities provided. Bfast is taiwan porrridge w condiments, soya bean, 6-8(?) hot dishes.
Discovered by the Tayal tribe in 1907, this hot spring town was called Meiji Onsen during the Japanese colonial period. The facilities of the hotel are aging, the service is particularly lacking, and I did not have high expectations for breakfast, but it did have a machine that used coffee beans. The hot spring has a public bath where you enter wearing swimsuits. There are some rooms with an indoor bath that allow you to enjoy views of the riverbank. I wouldn’t recommend it for those seeking comfort, but it is sufficient for seasoned travelers. There is also a yukata rental service, allowing you to experience a taste of Japan, although it seems that today's young people in Taiwan pay it no mind. The promenade, which can be walked in about an hour, is perfect for killing time, well-maintained, and easy to walk for the elderly and children, though some level of physical fitness is required for the route. It is a lush and quiet place at night, making it worth a visit.
The room was large and mostly clean. Coming to this area we must understand that most of the hotels are older. This building is updated but still shouldn't expect modern.
This booking includes a double room with a hot spring pool, the pool is very comfortable, and the public spa area outside is also clean, perfect for wandering and enjoying the soak.

In fact, there are not many reviews for accommodations around Guquan Hot Spring, not just from Koreans but in general. I had a lot of trouble choosing a place to stay and I considered giving up on my Guquan itinerary. Nevertheless, I visited with a strong desire to experience hot springs in Taiwan, and I was 99% satisfied. The remaining 1% is due to the distance from Taichung... it's really far... However, the hotel owner was very kind, and despite being an old building, it was really clean and well-maintained. The shared hot springs and the private hot spring view in the room were great, and I appreciated the simple local Taiwanese breakfast provided for free! There are many good restaurants nearby according to Google Maps, so it's nice to take dinner to-go... I wrote a long review because I had a hard time finding information with no reviews. Be sure to visit at least once!
