Compared to the sightseeing in Bangkok, our goal in Hua Hin was quite singular: just to relax and vacation. Among a selection of resorts priced around *** or *** per night, we chose this four-star resort for less than ***/night, and after staying for two nights, it felt incredibly comfortable, making the price that was double compared to Bangkok totally worth it! This hotel seems to be relatively new and follows a small yet exquisite model; the only two places in Thailand with this trend are Hua Hin and the increasingly popular Koh Kae. Based on what I saw online, the Koh Kae one has a high aesthetic appeal, but Hua Hin quickly drew me in after seeing photos online. There are certainly many beautiful hotels in Hua Hin, but this one stands out by fully utilizing blue elements; in addition to the central outdoor swimming pool, the exterior walls of the building are a mix of blue and white. The white walls in the room are decorated with blue and light yellow accents, giving a feeling reminiscent of Santorini. Coupled with lush green palm and coconut trees and a similarly aesthetically pleasing lobby, restaurant, and café, this place completely satisfies every need of an auntie wanting to show off her poses at any time and fulfills the girlish dreams of a strong woman. Our room was in a corner behind the swimming pool, not directly facing it, which was our requested "quiet room". However, it later turned out that facing the pool wasn't as noisy as we had imagined: during the day, aside from elderly Western guests claiming the best sunbathing chairs early on, there were indeed families who came to vacation with kids playing in the pool. However, the pool's open hours are from 7 AM to 7 PM. Unless we were unlucky enough to encounter particularly inconsiderate guests who ignored the rules and made noise outside of these hours, it generally didn’t affect our rest. Our room was on the second floor, and each floor had four units, with ours being the one furthest inside, providing excellent privacy with a separate entryway. The room was also larger than the twin room we stayed in while in Bangkok. What’s even better is that it has a private balcony with a couch to relax on and an outdoor clothes drying rack that my mom had been wanting. Once the sun comes out, it will shine on all the rooms, making ours bright and welcoming. Perhaps because of this, the room wasn’t equipped with enough lighting, resulting in it feeling a bit dim at night. Another downside of the room was the absence of a dedicated writing desk and office chair. Perhaps they designed it this way to encourage guests to relax fully—using a laptop or iPad to work while at a resort is simply against the rules?! However, during our stay, we did see someone having breakfast while working on their computer in the café, and a young guy sunbathing in a lounge chair while checking reports on a laptop—what on earth is this new form of relaxed internal competition or competitive relaxation? (However, as a working person myself, I understand @@) Despite that, the hotel seems to have overlooked the need for dedicated tables and chairs if one wishes to write postcards like Peter Pan or jot down expenses like a tough girl. In terms of transportation, our main consideration was that we would take a minibus from Ekkamai Bus Station in Bangkok (which in reality was an older minivan that seemed like it would fall apart at any moment). According to the staff and Google Maps, it would drop us off at Bluport shopping mall, which is a 4-minute walk to the hotel. This made the hotel location quite convenient. In fact, it exceeded our expectations as the driver parked right at the hotel entrance, though that could be due to the proximity to the neighboring InterContinental Hotel, haha! Additionally, being close to Bluport means we could go shopping every day, which makes it unnecessary to visit the other nearby Village Market that lights up at night. Moreover, it only takes three to five minutes to walk to the beach from the hotel, and there’s even a side door that provides a shortcut, but the opening hours of the side door, like the pool, are also from 7 AM to 7 PM. In comparison, getting around the city isn’t as convenient. It takes around half an hour to walk to either the train station or the opposite direction to the Cicada Market. Although Hua Hin is cooler than Bangkok during the day, it can still be quite sunny. Moreover, the roads aren’t particularly scenic, aside from the deafening traffic, and the main road towards the Cicada Market is poorly designed, effectively encouraging pedestrians to risk their lives crossing it, and there are hardly any safer crossing routes available… Before coming, I’d read that Hua Hin's "public transport" consists of songthaews, which can drop passengers on main roads.
