Reception: Friendly and helpful. Love the concierge greeting and helping with the bags from the taxi. Breakfast: spread was okay. Egg counter was slow. Room: Bed was good and comfortable. The lightings overall was too dim. Not good for reading. Overall good with a good TV channels. Shower cubicle need better cleaning with a mould over the walls. Very slow water flow during shower that it stagnates. But love the force of the water from the shower. Toiletries adequate. Location: convenient. Lots of food stalls around the hotel and in the hypermarket in front of the hotel.

I went in with concern over the negative reviews I read online about the hotel but to my surprise, the place was better than expected. There's ample parking and the check-in was rather quick. Making payment was a bit weird - they can't accept contactless payment because the amount was more than RM250. From what I know, that shouldn't be the case. Contactless payment should be acceptable for amount exceeding RM250 but you would need to enter your card PIN. In the end, had to may payment using PIN. Upon entering the room, the first thing I noticed was poor the lighting of the room was. It was all yellow and not enough lighting. There was no ceiling lighting and just numerous desk lamps and a floor lamp. You would need to open the curtain for more lighting. The shower was great, no issue with the heater but they need to step up the cleanliness. There's stain in the shower area (mineral built up). No smelly towels (as mentioned by many online review), moldy flush button at the toilet. Bed and TV was great. Breakfast was good. Swimming pool was close for repair during my stay but it's a non-issue for me. Overall, it was a good stay and I think the price was worth it. Just that I won't call it a 4-star hotel.

I went to Alor Setar so many times, usually i stayed at Raia Hotel but this time i wanna try different hotel which is more cheaper than Raia. So i choose Grand Alora. Fortunately I choose the best one. The room is spacious, complete with iron, hair dryer, towels, kettle and safety box. Ample parking space no need to worry about that. The breakfast was so good. What i can say is—the hotel worth the price. It’s also has swimming pool, gym and spa. The staff are great and polite with their “kedah dialect” cute btw. The only thing that I can judge is—they don’t have hot water due to broken boilers. Hopefully they can fix it.
