Finland hotels & accommodations

Nothing much to rave about this hotel, but it is clean, fairly modern, fresh looking, just minutes away walking from the airport. What was a bit surprising that guests at check-in where offered to pay for WIFI, comes as a surprise as it is a 5 star hotel - really it should be complimentary, but when we checked-in at another counter, we were offered to join "Hilton Club...

I loved my stay here. As a solo traveler, coming to Finland can be intimidating due to the expensive nature of this part of the world. Hotel Helka is a fantastic value. Good things: - Very friendly staff, willing to answer questions and help you with your visit - Clean, bright rooms - 15 minute leisurely walk to train station, ten if moving along - Less than 10 minute ...

Hotel is near to central railway station. room is big and cozy. staff is helpful. We spent 3 weeks in Scandinavia and Finland was the last country of our visit. We had a 5-day tour to Lapland before checking in the hotel and we didn't want to carry all our luggage to Lapland. Hotel let us store our luggage free of charge during our Lapland tour even before we checked...

We stayed for 3 nights before moving onto another igloo for a night and to be honest I wish we had stayed at the star artic for all 4 nights. The staff were incredibly helpful. The room was beautiful but unfortunately we did have a hiccup( an issue that could’ve happened at any hotel). The manager handled our complaint with such professionalism and provided generous co...

We booked this for my uncle and my review is based on his experience. I've posted a separate review for my wife and I who had a room on a floor below. Room provided was on the top (8th) floor and was right at the end of the corridor, so not only was it quiet but well laid-out, clean and modern. Free wi-fi provided in the room as well as free robe, slippers, hair dryer...

I made a reservation for my mom in law for staying one night. flight was from moscow to seoul and she stopped over one night in finland so I had to find a hotel which is not far from the airport and cozy. she said that this was amazing for the price. amenities, staffs.. overall. thank you guys for make her first short trip happy.

My wife and I were very fond of this hotel. We found the rooms excellent, big and clean and the location pretty central. In addition, the hotel has a free of charge business center with two Internet terminals and a printer that helped us a lot to plan the rest of our vacation in Finland. Wxcellent value.

I spent two days in this great hotel and I will do the same next time I am in Finland. The hotel is located very close to the airport and not minding the fact I landed very late at night, the hotel sent their shuttle to pick me up. The room was spacious and had everything I ever wanted from wonderful lists of channels on the flat screen TV, a speedy wifi, clean towels,...

I was staying here with one of my colleague for our business trip. The staff was very friendly. We asked for direction and they offer you a map for the locations nearby. They will be glad to tell you how to go to the city from Otaniemi too. Which bus to take etc. The food was great. I want to get the food again if I happen to visit this hotel again in the future. Overa...

Hotel is located cater next door to the railway station. We were given a room facing the railway tracks but we didn’t hear any noise. Reception staff are very helpful and during check in, although we were early, she let us have the room. However, hotel should provide updated city map. The one given to us was an old edition and we went to the wrong Moomin museum.

Receptionists are very helpful, polite and nice. Location is good, shopping mall is right infront of hotel and metro station is right infront of the shopping mall. In that shopping mall has big super market. Room is clean and big enough for 2 persons. Breakfast is great with choices and tasty. I'll stay there again for sure !!

Pros : location of hotel is excellent Front desk staff was really good and helpful. Cons: pics in the website is misleading. It is actually a very small hotel. Don’t choose the rooms with no windows. This summer was extremely hot, there was no air conditioning in the room and it was like living in a box. The front desk staff was most helpful in gettin...

I booked Indigo for a longish weekend (Thursday-Sunday) while visiting the city and going to the Helsinki Craft Beer Festival. Really cozy little hotel, almost hidden in the facade, but spacious on the inside. Super helpful staff, and location is conveniently central, but in a part of town which did not feel overly crowded or busy at night. Just 10 minutes walk from t...

Firstly of all, they have 24 hour reception which is so important to me, I can find the staff anytime if I need any help. Secondly, staff all friendly and helpful. I lost my baggage for three days and I ask them to help me call the airline, they all wiling to help. Thirdly, the bathroom is clean , but the room not clean enough. Lastly, there are tram station near hoste...

The hotel is clean and staff is nice. It takes around 10 mins walk to the town or lake Inari, the best place for aurora if you don't join the local tour. The best part of the hotel is its restaurant. Overall my trip, the dinner I had in this hotel was the best. I would call it a fine dinning but with a fair price. Highly recommended!!!

The receptionist was very polite and pointed out various places-of-interests that we can visit during our stay in Oulu. Perfect location; a large parking lot across the hotel and about 10-15 minutes away from all the places-of-interests. Spacious and clean room, with basic toiletries provided (shampoo, body soap, lotion). A wide variety of food at breakfast. The sauna ...

Our planned late arrival by train made this the hotel of choice for us. Very good value for Scandinavia, the hotel gave us a good night's stay and a good buffet breakfast. The staff were helpful and friendly. The night we stayed was a very warm one, but the quiet desk fan in our room kept the room well aired all night and we slept well. Check in and out went smoothly...

this hotel is clean, tidy and comfortable. it is near the airport and has convenient access to the city. I stayed in Finland for one day due to transit purpose and this hotel is optimal for my short stay as I had to head for the airport on the next day. To my understanding, you can get to the city within 20 mins.

The staff in Hostel Villa Kemi were extremely friendly and helpful. As our luggage was lost by the airline in transit, the staff from Hostel Villa Kemi took the initiative to Google the opening times of the sports store, clothing store and supermarket to ensure that we could purchase the necessary clothing.

This hostel is hard to miss because it seemed to be the only hostel in the island. Very comfortable, and even if there is no one at the reception, they have systems in place to help you (esp. if you come after hours). There are lockers for your belongings if you want to check out early. Also, there are two areas for eating (the one upstairs seemed to be the place to ma...

I booked a single private room and it was really good for such price: the room was clean, neat, there were towels, shower gels and hair dryer. There’s a kitchen on the same floor with free coffee and teas, and there’s also a microwave. They also provided discounts for the sauna that’s located at their reception place, and overall, the service was excellent. Definitely ...

This hotel is about 700 km from St Petersburg, a convenient stop place if you travel up north. There are several rooms in several separate houses and a huge former school building in which we have stayed. This gives this hotel some unique character and makes it a cool place to stop at. Of course there is a lake nearby.

Room 14. We both got bit by bedbugs or something similar from the beds. Itchy all through the night. Breakfast simple, though for me the porridge is fine. The sausages were probably reheated from previous days. We visited the zoo and the location of this Gasthaus is fine when travelling by car, a few km from the zoo.

Beautiful place. Good facility. Good for couple, family and even for group. Slight drawback is that it is far from shop. So it might be problem when you stay during weekend or summer holiday season when cafe and restaurant in the facility is closed. You need to prepare in advance. Otherwise nothing to complain. Very nice place.

Its a very nice place and a bit secluded from everything else, so if going here you should have a car or boat. As a couple travelling by foot we had to rely on friends to pick us up or taxi (there is only one taxi). Would have loved to be there longer than we were.

This was an overnight stay (I had to take a ferry from Turku port early next day) so I was not looking for an amazing stay, but I was quite pleased with the room and bathroom which were spacious and well-kept. The bathroom had a very clean feel with its white walls and transparent shower cubicle and it helped that there were lots of soap and shampoo. This "hotel" sits...

I don't know why the other raters rated Hotel Cikada so lowly. The rooms were very basic, but clean and comfortable, for the cost. But then again, everything in Mariehamn is expensive like everything else in Scandanavia. Travelers should know the European North is not a budget destination. WiFi worked very well, hotel staff answered all questions understandably in Swed...

Hotel is a family run village. We stayed in a Cottage with plenty of place, comfortable rooms and with sauna! Just great! Hotel staffs were all nice, helpful. I can catch the stars which I have never seen in other places. We could went to the lake nearby, from where we could see the Aurora easily, though we have chosen to join the activities. When you stayed here,...

Probably one of the cheapest accomodation on Saariselkä area. Just next to a grocery where you can buy your foods to cook. All the common areas were always kept clean and tidy, especially the bathroom and kitchen. Always have hot water.

It was enjoyable. I have stayed during christmas holiday and have joined many activities provided by the hotel. Husky riding, sami kota visit, gold panning, etc. I have viewed my first time of northern light right here in the hotel too. Room is comfortable and staff is helpful. Guess i will visit again for coming winters.

The hotel is in a great location right in the middle of Turku. It has a sauna well. WIFI is fast. Room is clean, spacious and modern. Markets, bars and restaurants near by in walking distance. Staffs are friendly as well. The hotel has a luggage storage.

The hotel is very well located in the centre of town. The rooms are satisfactory but not very big and the wooden flooring makes it a little noisy. The breakfast buffet was nothing special and quite limited in range. Good point was the outdoor parking which meant we could leave the car and do our sightseeing on foot without having to worry about parking. Not sure I woul...

It is a 3 star hotel, and the comfort level was basic. However, the building set-up is not ideal, where the lift is located at one end, and we ended up having to walk to the end of the building to get to our room. It didn't help that someone had barfed on the carpet at the corridor and the 'smell' stayed on for at least one whole day. Nevertheless, the room is decent ...

I arrived on a Sunday at 9.15 pm, the reception was already closed, as they close at 9 pm on Sundays. Got the key from the nearby pub and had to walk up three flights of stairs with the luggage, as the elevator is off after the reception is closed. In the room there was a message that next day's breakfast was cancelled but they did leave some food to eat in the room. ...

You need to know that address given via agoda is not the apartment location. You have to go to a location that is vending machine like to collect your keys. (As stated in agoda) ... if you don’t drive and has a lot of luggages it will be inconvenient. A quaint apartment. Generally clean.

We traveled at very low season on a Norwegian Holiday when many facilities were closed, even Tourist Information. This is a basic self catering cottage, right off the highway. we stayed for 2 nights at 87 euro per night, with breakfast. It's worthwhile with the service and food in the breakfast. We called to reserve a room for our first night and the reception was so nice to help us and wait for us to check-in. Understanding Finnish Customs and Etiquette
Familiarizing yourself with Finnish customs and etiquette can enhance your travel experience and help you connect with locals. Finns are known for their straightforwardness and honesty, which can sometimes come across as reserved behavior. When meeting someone for the first time, a firm handshake is customary, and maintaining eye contact is considered polite. Respect for personal space is important, so it’s best to avoid standing too close during conversations.
When visiting someone’s home, it’s customary to bring a small gift, such as flowers or chocolates, as a gesture of appreciation. If you are invited to a sauna, it’s essential to follow the host’s lead regarding customs, such as showering before entering and respecting the sauna’s rules. Being punctual is highly valued in Finnish culture, so arriving on time for appointments or social gatherings is expected.
Lastly, learning a few basic phrases in Finnish can go a long way in showing respect for the local culture. Simple greetings like “Moi” (Hello) and “Kiitos” (Thank you) can help break the ice and create a friendly atmosphere. By understanding and embracing Finnish customs, travelers can enjoy a more enriching experience during their visit.
