"This hotel was not actually in Unawatuna. A bit further down in Ahangama. Nice location still. Rooms were clean and beds were comfy. Very good food. Would recommend."

"Cantaloupe Levels provides you with more than what you'd expect. First and foremost, the view is phenomenal. Located on top of a hill, the hotel is first of its kind in Sri Lanka, basking a 3-floor structure with 9 luxury rooms. The hotel overlooks the Unawatuna Bay, providing you spectacular insight to the stunning beach landscape of the South. The view; both invites you to go down to the beach and bathe in its warm waters yet eludes you, so you'd rather watch its beauty from a distance. Another unique factor at Levels is it's tranquility; even though its location is prime property, it is the only hotel there and it is surrounded by beautiful lush greenery for miles. Thus enhancing your experience with a mix of adventure and serenity. The suites are grand and extend luxurious comfort; soft feather pillows, ultra-soothing mattress, Egyptian cotton linen, fresh simplistic bathroom with jacuzzi jets and rain-shower, his and her sinks. And the list of amenities are endless. The staff are friendly, pleasant and most importantly, obliging. The private concierge went out of his way to make sure we were well taken care of (kudos Nuwan). Love the tri-colour pool. The breakfast menu is delectable with Continental, American and Sri Lankan options to select from, unfortunately didn't have the opportunity to have lunch or dinner there. All in all, great experience, beautiful hotel. Hats off Cantaloupe&Co on its creativity and class!! "

"We really enjoyed and recommend the Dunes Unawatuna hotel. The Sri Lankan owner spent a number of years living in Australia and has made sure this newly built hotel has good Western standards - quite a difference to other places we've stayed in Sri Lanka. The staff were friendly and attentive, we enjoyed the food, and the beach is great for swimming, running, and a range of good restaurants with tables on the beach."

"Pros: - The staff are great, very helpful. Due to language barriers, you may need to repeat your requests, but they're very helpful. It's also a small hotel (8 rooms, I think), so you do get a lot of attention. - Rooms are bigger than you expect. Our room (beach studio) was advertised as 18 m2, but I'm pretty sure it was bigger. - Ground-floor rooms open out onto a patio and pool. - Great view - Not related to the hotel exactly, but Cantina Lanka is 500m away, and serves excellent Mexican food! - Their daily special menu (e.g. Sri Lankan food) is excellent - They provided a cot for our 1yo son, free of cost - We had wifi reception issues in our room, and they instantly provided another mobile wifi device just for us. Cons: - Some of the facilities mentioned on the Agoda site (e.g. spa) aren't there. Seems just like a misunderstanding. - If you want to spend all of your time in Galle or Unawatuna, this is a bit far."

"Stayed at Eco Villa as wanted to stay local to the beach to continue surfing. The entire family couldn't do enough to help, which was lovely. Breakfast was fantastic and can be made for you at any time in the morning which works best for you; they even cooked a dinner for me also. Location wise, it's just on the outskirts of Ahangama, but only a minute walk to the town. Tourist beaches are a couple of minutes ride away on a Tuk Tuk, surfing spots within walking distance. Do recommend taking earplugs as next door have some non stop barking dogs at night! Apart from that, a fantastic place to stay!"

" The room was nice and clean, the bathroom was big, the surroundings were lovely with direct access to a small non-crowded beach strip. A few things, however, bothered us: We partly chose Joe's because of the nice hot tub we saw at the pictures. When arriving it was broken. We were not offered any kind of compensation though we actually asked for it feeling a bit deceived. (If not Joe's, we would have chosen a hotel with a pool). Also, we asked for clean towels as they get pretty wet from beach time during the day which we were promised several times. They never came, and we just gave up in the end. Staff was very friendly (a cook and a young boy), but not able to help with actual problems, and the management refused to come by though we asked for it. The cook was a lovely man besides that. All in all, we had a great time, but compared to the standard at much cheaper hotels we visited, it didn't match our full expectations."
