San Diego (CA) hotels & places to stay

I had booked the Corner King room for the view. Definitely was not disappointed. Stayed there for one night only as San Diego was a spontaneous trip decided the day before and booked the room the day of. The hotel reminds me of a Vegas hotel. Very grand. It's off the ocean/bay so it's not close to the gaslamp district; that's where Lyft comes in handy. Do not take the carriage bag to th e hotel, it was a good $30. Def take Lyft back. Now for the negative. They didn't mention at check-in but using their valet was an additional $49!!! I choose that hotel because I thought it was all included. Wrong, so definitely NOT a Vegas like hotel in that aspect. Also, neither Agoda or the hotel mentioned that there's a resort fee (hyatt refers to it as a "destination fee"). Love the view but after the hidden fees I think I'll choose a different hotel next time I'm in San Diego. There's lots of other hotels that charge much less for valet ( self parking is $35!!!)

When In San Diego there is so much to do and see. My husband and two young children wanted to experience the perfect family staycation. We are familiar with beaches and nearby cities . San Diego is all in one. The location for the hotel is perfect due to the fact you have access to the beaches, historical artifacts and the downtown near by. Location Wise , 100% couldn’t have been better . My daughter and son loved to play by the pool during the day . In the evening we took a cruise exploring parts of San Diego that had numerous historical backgrounds . Which was well worth it by the way. For dinner we ate at a restaurant in downtown. My little girl was drained after an adventurous day , within a few minutes we were back at the hotel. The best part of the vacation was waking up in the hotel room watching the sunrise over the marina. My little girl and husband were so excited to see the sun

Valet parking and great location to see all of downtown San Diego. Access to the I-5 allows you to travel up and down the coast and see more sites. There isn't a full size pool but they have a spa pool which I was unaware of until the day before I left. The doors to the rooms open up into an inner courtyard. I was expecting a Marriott or Hilton type hotel with hallways and doors on either side. There are various meeting places and an on-site restaurant. They also have plenty of events listed for you to attend. Overall a very trendy nice hotel with comfortable rooms and a great location.

I've stayed at this hotel a couple of times and it never disappoints. The property is beautiful with San Diego Harbor to the front and a marina to the back. The rooms are beautiful and the beds are exceptionally comfortable. There is a pool area onsite, although I have never used it or even seen it. The restaurant is good and will accommodate take out orders. Even though the property is near the airport, there is no noise at all in the rooms. There is a laundry room available to guests which was nice but hard to use simply due to popularity. It also appears to be a shared laundry facility for tenants of the marina. I had to try several times over 2 days to get a time when a key was available. Overall, this is one of my favorite hotels in San Diego!

The staff make you feel like family. They go above and beyond to make your stay in San Diego the best possible. When you call the front desk they respond by answering with; Hello this is xxx, I can help you with anything. And they do! Late night extra water? Done. Extra towels? Done. Refill of what you were missing at breakfast time? Done. Big shout out to Keith and Marianela who really did everything they could for me and my colleagues! You should go visit them, I hope to really soon. The hotel itself is also lovely with beautifully decorated doors and pineapple details everywhere. It is walking distance to any Gaslamp destination and the convention centre. They have a shuttle service to take you around downtown if you don’t want to walk though. This team has thought of everything! The accommodations are amazing, but it’s really the people who made all the difference! We switched hotels during our stay, we were there on business and were sad to leave. I would 100% recommend!

From the moment I arrived at valet everyone was welcoming and very hospitable. The front desk agent Justice was very friendly. I had the upgrade to the club access which had a nice selection throughout the stay. Walking around the property I was greeted by my last name more than one time which was very nice. I would 100% recommend this property to others and I do look forward to my next stay there.

I was pleasantly surprised how clean the our room was since the cost of the room was reasonably low. The bathroom was very clean and the room had everything and extra stuff we needed. It has mini refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker, Internet, ironing board and iron, plenty of hangers, and many more. The beds were very comfortable and we slept well. The staff were very friendly and polite and they even gave us free water bottles. We will stay here whenever we’re down in San Diego visiting, friends, family, or students.

Nothing too wrong with the hotel, but overall, but I had better in previous Best Westerns and for cheaper at a nicer location. This one, my room faced the 805 freeway. And the door was NOT soundproof from the traffic nor from the guest who decided to smoke & talk on the phone outside my room. But the walls were good, as I could not hear my neighbors. The room was very spacious - I had enough room to do yoga with an open suitcase on the floor. The bed was big and comfortable, the air condition was easy to control (and create white noise to cover the traffic) and the wifi was good - which is really all I needed. But all those amenities I could have had for 2/3 cheaper nearby at the Motel6, including the freeway5 view. (Also, for 9$ more I could have had a better location for the same amenities at the LaQuinta.) The extras - pool, breakfast, was wasted on a single traveller; but I would say this BW would be better deal for families, which there were many, enjoying the pool and breakfast. The other guests seemed to have a happier time than me - but I just needed a place to crash, while they were in family vacations. Although opened 24 hours Front desk was manned by a single person at all times. Very worrying once the computer system slowed downed (which it did) causing a line to form. Also, twice I had to get my magnetic card to reboot from the front desk - very annoying. Breakfast was not first class, but certainly generous and filling and great for the kids. The bathroom and linen were clean, though the carpet could use an upgrade. Plugs for charging were hard to find (i found only 1 empty socket by the desk, and another behind the bed which would require some hand acrobatics). That being said, being near the 805 makes it convenient to stay in this Best Western if seeing the sights in San Diego and Tijuana, without having to pay premium price on a downtown hotel (which I wasn't - so not much value for me).

Was able to catch a great deal on this hotel near the heart of downtown San Diego/Gas lamp quarter compared to nearby hotels outside the area. Proximity to Amtrak station, stores, restaurants was excellent. Also the area felt where hotel located felt safe and fairly quite as it's on the edge of gaslamp where many of the tourist and party goers attend. Rooms was a bit small if 2 people staying in same room, but didn't need much space as was only myself occupying room since traveling for business. And didn't hear any noise through walls or in hall ways, although to be fair i was in a corner room and also not sure if anyone was in room next to me. That being said I recommend paying a few dollars extra if needed to obtain a corner room both for calmness and view. Overall great spot, highly recommend.

The location of hotel is at the historic heart of San Diego. Closing to Convention Center, Petco Park Stadium and lots of other landmarks. The working staff were very nice and friendly. The breakfast included in room fee is good, but not so many choices of food. The room is clean and comfortable. However, the facilities are a little bit out of date. The air conditioner is an old fahsion one and somewhat noisy during sleeping hours. The TV is inputted with analog signal and seems rather vague, compared with digital HD signals. Other facilities are in good condition and work well. Considering the price, this hotel is recommended for those who have a limited budget for hotel.

I was pleasantly surprised when I drove up to this hotel in that it was charming and it did not have that big hotel, square-box feel to it. The rooms were clean and beds were comfortable too. The only downside for me was that the parking garage ceilings were low for my large SUV with rack on top. I had to maneuver slowly; but, I survived. :-) Overall, it is a great hotel located in a great area!

Located on Harbor Island, this Hilton is 5 minutes away from SAN airport, so very convenient. The hotel is bright and clean with friendly staff; the parking lot is gated and well-lit. The beds are very comfortable and the room was very clean. Being right on the water with open water on one side and the marina on the other side is very picturesque. The hotel has free shuttle service to the airport as well. The front lobby offered free Christmas cookies and hot cider (it was the holidays), and in the morning there is free coffee.

It`s very convenient to San Diego Zoo. Very clean, room is big,and everything is organized (small dining table, 2 chairs, coffee machine, refrigerator.） It is not included a breakfast, but there is absolutely nice cafe in property.( Stuff is soooo helpful and very delicious.) Unfortunately we couldn't close the thick curtain . So it scared us with only thin curtain little bit. It seemed to not shut was only our room. So I wish it could be remodel.

I know it's USA and hotel prices are in average much higher compared to other countries but the value for money is disappointing. Positiv: The hotel has a nice courtyard and staff is friendly, the food quite good. Negative: The rooms smell of chlorine and definitely need renovation as well as noice protection from the neighbour rooms. But what really annoyed me was the daily self parking rate of USD 32.- - absolutely ridiculous. On top you have to pay a daily USD 30.- city tax plus some addition room tax which they didn't tell me at the booking. All in all not a place were I would book again.
