Where to stay in Saint Petersburg
Saint Petersburg hotels & accommodations

Our three night stay was unforgettable. The room was beautiful, spotless and very comfortable. I had my 70th birthday while I was there. When we came back at the hotel that night they supersized me with a birthday cake in our room. the cake was moist and so delicious. Thank you so very much for everything. I would come back here and stay. I would recommend it to every...

Although pricey, Golden Triangle is superb for location, 5 minutes from Kazanskaya, 10 from Hermitage. Right off Nevsky, the crowds can sometimes overwhelm and the awful local street rock is the worst. All Russian hotels need better handicap access, and this hotel needs a ramp, but otherwise one of the best places I've stayed in Petersburg.

This hotel is following a european standard therefore you feel that you are getting much more value for your money than in its 4 stars russian standard counterparts. The staff is polite, rooms are cleaned everyday, breakfast is tasty. Location is very close to the main train station and makes your arrival and departure days easier. Its an easy walk to the main attracti...

We got a great pre-paid deal through Agoda incl. breakfast. Nice to be just far enough away from the hustle bustle but so much to see close by. Lovely 15 min walk to Peter & Paul Fortress or Hermitage. Breakfast at hotel can't was superb. For the budget concious there is a REALLY cheap cafeteria style eat in just outside the hotel only meters away. Dinner and drink avg...

We spent 4 nights at the hotel. The room was not luxurious but spotlessly clean. It made us feel at home. The breakfast was great. The receptionists were very helpful. The free wifi was fast and reliable. Even though the hotel, located in a good residential area, is about 5 kilometres away from the central part of Saint Petersburg, getting to main attractions in the ci...

I am grateful to have booked to this hotel as it was nearly perfect. From the breakfast, value for money and staff. i would book to this hotel the next time i will visit st. petes. the rooms are small but you will just sleep for the night and you will be outside as always anyway. This is highly recommended its near almost everywhere!

It was the first time in Saint Petersburg, Novotel is located almost directly on Nevsky prospekt where you will find a lot of shops and Restaurants. The Staff was friendly and helpful. The was quite big with a nice queen size bed, the room was clean couldn't complain about at all. The Metro is just wife minutes walk from the Hotel.

Situated in the hustle and bustle of St Petersburg, this beautiful hotel offered wonderful rooms, great service and a pleasant atmosphere. In addition AH is located within walking distance of most of St Peterburg's central attractions, as well as restaurants, cafes and bars. We were very happy with this choice and would highly recommend AH to solo, couple or group trav...

This is my first visit to Saints Petersburg , I had to choose between different hotels, this hotel got attention due to its location and review scores given to it, the hotel is family friendly as it has plenty of connected rooms, I’ll definitely choose this hotel for my next visit to the city . The hotel is close to two big shopping centers and also close to public tra...

Few minute walk to Neva River. Being on or near Neva is best. Food was just fantastic. Breakfasts incredible. Extremely friendly staff. Front desk people provided A+ service with all issues. I upgraded from Standard to Superior room. Well worth it if you have a 'roommate'! Beautiful room. Even bathroom floor was heated! Pub was great for later dinners and ambiance. Hou...

Forced to find other accomodation after refusing to stay at Amaranta Admiralteyskaya (see review for this )we ended up at the Ibis after being referred by a sister hotel , "the Novotel ". Best thing that could have happened to us .From feeling awfully dissapointed to being highly delighted and had a really great time , with good people to take care of us and help us ...

This is my second stay at vedensky hotel. Hotel located in a nice area with lots of places get a quick bite. Grocery store actress hotel with lots of options. Hotel needs some updating, rooms are not what they used to be. Staff is great. Location too long by foot to center. Most likely u would need a taxi, which is cheap unless ur a tourist. Uber works the best. I h...

I booked this hotel without expectation. The rate was good so I booked it without even knowing where exactly it was, whether it was strategic or not. I just needed to stay a night. It turned out even since the beginning of my booking, I could feel the welcoming tone in every email they sent. Stasov is only like 30 minutes from Pulkovo, good traffic. From the front you ...

We had warm feeling during our staying here. The hotel has a small size but the room is big with comfortable and nice funiture and conditions. The location of the hotel is great with many restaurants, coffe shops, small shops and shopping malls around. We could easily walk to the rail station or some sight seeing places. Hotel staff are friendly and can speak English....

The location is great with a short distance to Metro station. The staffs speaks English well and verynice to customers. Several 24 hours convenience stores are very close to the hotel. Dostoevsky's Museum is just around the corner. There are many high-end restaurants on the street. The breakfast is great. The room is large and cozy. There's nothing to complain about thi...

The Demetra Art Hotel is very close to the metro station and therefore close to all destinations in St Petersburg (e.g. 8 minutes to Nevsky Prospekt). Close to it is also a very nice park and the best restaurant Blok in St. Petersburg. In the hotel they have excellent breakfasts. The staff is really friendly and helpful to get tickets to all kind of performances and ta...

great location, great service mind, clean and cozy room. hotel is near the metro (exit 2 had escalator! and exit 3-4 are stair) around the hotel has many mini local restuarants, that's awesome and not expersive. If it's nice weather, you can walk to nevsky street or st. isaac (around 1.5 km) all staff are good in English and helpful. recommended! :)

we stayed in a double room. the room was clean and warm. (warm is very important when you visit st. peterburg in winter!) the breakfast included offer a taste of russian food. there is a metro station within 5 minutes walking distance, and there are many tourist attraction along the nevskiy prospekt which is very close to the hotel too. there is a 24 hours convenient...

First, i just spent 3 nights in the hotel ended-up, i extended another 2 days to explore more in St petersburg! Hotel room is new and modern, breakfast is good. Hotel located 500m distance to subway but save to walk alone at night. Nearby, you can grab any item from groceries. Good hotel recommend!
Cheap places to stay in Saint Petersburg

Easy to find, and is very central, close to many attractions. Plenty of food and supermarket nearby. There's always not enough cups or plates on the 2nd floor kitchen, and my food was stolen, half a jar of ajika sauce to be exact, it was in the fridge, labelled. Kitchen is cleaned daily. Wall is thin, you can hear everything. But I met the most amazing people in the ho...

This place is among my top 3 Hostels St Petersburg. Only thing I had trouble with was arriving and opening the gate with the gate code when arriving from Italyanskaja Uliza (usually I enter the code and hashtag after. This one was hashtag first and the code after. I had to wait few minutes for people to go through because my IQ is under 50. This place is peaceful, rel...

Rooms are clean, shared bathroom with 4 sinks and showers. Reception guy Nikita spoke fluent english, and girl next to him also when checked in. Easy to manage, easy to find, bar downstairs with amazing drinks selection. Metro is close as well as party streets, except the place is superquiet. Recommend.

This was a great hostel with excellent value for the money. A few negatives are there is no good signage ( only a some postcard sized paper to identify the door) and it is on a fifth floor walk up which can be challenging with a lot of bags but the beds are soft, the rooms are warm, it was quiet and comfortable. There was some confusion at check in about payment but th...

A bit hard to find the hostel at the first time. Close to the metro station and easy access to the main attractions by bud. Staff are nice and willing to help although they do not speak english. The bathroom design may not be convenient for females. But overall, it is a good hostel for budget travellers.

I arrived past 10PM because of a delayed flight from China to Saint Petersburg. The dudes at the counter (I forgot their names, jfk, I'm bad with names who am I kidding) were extremely accommodating when I got there. Coming from a tropical country, it's my first time to experience winter. As soon as I got there, they handed me a shot of sweet orange liquor, which I'm s...
If you come to St Petersburg by train or leave there by train, the hostel is in a good location for you. Otherwise, you get some hostel with better location and similar price range. The hestel is located in a quite old building, and it is quite difficult to find. The bed is not good. In a shared room, you do not have locker, you do not have individule plug and light. ...

A bit of a walk to any of the highlights of St Petersburg and a pretty industrial/dead street that the hostel is on. The rooms could've used a bit of air conditioning on a few nights, but the room wasn't bad at all. Clean, staffed all day/night, and never had to wait for the showers or toilets. The staff doesn't speak english at all so communication was a bit of a chal...

It's a very rare chance to come visit Russia in your lifetime. Visiting St Petersburg was the best decision I have ever decided to do in my life. However the hostel I'm staying made it hard for me to enjoy the city. We have to be back in the hostel before 3am or else you will be sleeping outside and have to wait till like 9am to come in the hostel.First, they should h...

Good good good goooooood and unbelievably so cheap rooms are much much better than they look in the pics. And they have kitchen for cooking. Every room has automatic door lock for safety. Plus, location is good . *but for first visit it's little bit hard to find the hostel. when you search this hostel in the google map you should search by hostel's address. DO NOT sea...
Nice and quite big room, everything clean and working. Quiet in the night. Very pleasant and quick service at reception. About 30 minutes walk to the center, underground is about 5 minutes away. Overall by far the best experience from all the accommodation we stayed at in Russia.
Firstly, the rooms not cleaned well, there are a lot of mosquitoes in the room!!!.. the smell of them room are not good!!!. I stayed a lot in many hostels, it is the first time which someone stole my mobile charges, sweat pant and tishirt which was located over my bed!!!!. I made a complain to receptionist (ANASTISA) she told me that she will check the camera but I did...

Holy crap ! I’m pretty sure this hostel is the best that I’ve ever stayed in!! Not so crowded in here , i think maybe cuz in winter and 10 person mixed room became private room ! Cuz except me no one in my room ! Lol , room is neat with comfy bed . I like Dashr ! She is a cute stuff haha

The hotel is at a good location, you can walk to some of the major sights. The room is clean, and nicely decorated, as you would expect in this category. The only complaint I would have is the size of the restaurant. When people have breakfast, at peak times the place can't handle the rush, and you don't have a table, or really hard to get actual food.

1st visit to St Petersburg and didn't know the geographical layout of the city. Took recommendation from Agoda primarily based on price and the photos. It is an apartment hotel, that is why there is no obvious signs of the "hotel" at the building's entrance. We and the taxi driver were quite lost initially. The entrance walkway into the building was also quite run down...

The hotel is definitely one of the best in terms of what it has to offer. Upon arrival we were provided the room in less than 5 min. The paperwork and registration were done by the hotel which was nice and helpful. The view from the room was beautiful. We could see the lifting of the bridges from the room. The breakfast spread was amazing. We even ordered food late ni...

It's just 1 min walk from the metro station. Once out from the metro, walk straight, cross the stone bridge, Gogol is on your left. Very conveniently located. It's around 20 min walk to the Hermitage (Palace Square) and 15 min walk to the Kazan Cathedral. However, to save some energy for sightseeing, it'll be a good option to take one stop of metro and get off near the...

This boutique hotel was originally built as the home of a 19th century industrialist. It has been tastefully restored and decorated. The hotel is in a great position down a quiet side street, within easy walking distance of all the main sights, shops, restaurants and metro station. The staff all spoke good English and were very friendly and very helpful. Our room wa...

This is a great choice for visitors to Saint Petersburg. The Hermitage, Nevsky Prospect and the canal network are all a very short walk from the hotel; the restaurant/breakfast room has beautiful views over The Church of the Spilled Blood. Staff are friendly and helpful - especially when arranging taxis.

just a pathetic value. prices may have been inflated for white nights, and granted all hotels in st pete (and in most of russia) are terrible vale. but for about a night there are certain things i expect *anywhere* that the oktyab. lacked: plugs (there was just one in the room, and one in the bathroom; consistent water pressure/temp (the temp jumped schizophrenically...

Pros - 15 min walk to palace bridge/Nievsky/Hermitage Very clean Huge wonderful SPA and gym Nice staff We ate out all the time so cannot say anything about the food We stayed during the FIFA games and finals so lots of security and soccer players roaming around which was cool. all in all would come again for sure Tip for getting around: use gett taxi. che...

The hotel is one of the top hotels in Saint Petersburg, we had a superior room. The room is small, clean, with somewhat old furniture. The housekeeping service is verygood, altough they did not replace the water bottles and shampo containers until we asked for replacement.

A lovely boutique hotel, very modern, very clean, very accommodating. The staff was excellent, breakfast, room service was excellent. The style of the hotel is fantastic and a rarity in Russia. Right next to the summer garden and very well located though the metro was a bit of a walk.

We rented a basic room. so we knew not to expect much. Room was small for two adults and a child. Two out of five days we stayed room had only warm water, every day not enough towels, and always only one or two bottles of water. Sink and bath always gets clogged. Staff was very helpful w fixing water problem, but towels and water was always an issue. Gets a little an...

The hotel was adequate and homey. Close to station. If you like to walk, it is just a straight line all the way to the Central of St Petersburg. We went during Sy Petersburg day and it was loads of fun and activities especially for young children. Don't miss the Russia Ballet, but make sure it is the famous Bolshoi.

It was a nice staying. I have only two things to mention - in the bathroom was no tooth brush and paste, luckily I had mine with me. Ahd would like to mention that there was a really nice door boy, super friendly and helping !!! Of coarse it is his job but I travel a lot and can compare. My stay was this week.

I did not like this hotel from the very first moment. It is badly conceived and badly run. First, the dark curtains are not “dark” at all, in a city where it is always daylight in summer. You will need eye mask. The aircon is noisy, which means you will need earplugs, as well. Do you feel like you are still flying? The “king size” bed is made of two joint single mattre...

Our room is right below the rooftop terrace and we had a little problem with the noises at night. We noted that in the customer survey after check-out and there came the reply from the hotel that "for guests who are not into trendy lifestyle and party vibes, we are happy to provide complementary case with sleep mask and ear plugs that we deliver on the first demand or...

3 of us have stayed in staybridge for a night. hotel is very new and clean. it's studio apartment style where we have a dry kitchen. the room is furnished with equipment thoughtfully. they even prepared tupperware in case guest would like to pack some food to bring to office. generally it's a good place for business traveller who stay in st. petersburgh for some tim...

Altho' Domina Prestige may classify itself as a 5-star establishment, it really is somewhere in the 3 1/2 to 4-star category. It simply does not have the décor or dining quality of a 5-star hotel. It does, however have a 5-star staff. This hotel provided excellent traveler support and great value. I strongly recommend it, even tho' Domina's self-rating of 5 stars ...

We came here for watching a WC match. Having read the reviews at Trip Advisor, we decided to book 2 nights in this apartment. Positives: 1) Reasonable price. 2) Location is perfect - Nevsky Prospekt is the centre of St. Petersburg, walking distance to many attractions and restaurant incl the FIFA Fan Fest 3) The front desk staff can speak fluent English and friendl...

Poor management refuse to refund even the service provide is completely different from the the booking, owner provide different location and different flat. Poor communication of the address And owner didn’t provide any explanation when two strangers get into our flat and lies to fix the electricity.
Real reviews for hotels
Truly the Venice of the north! Not as humid though. A wonderful city not too hard to get around with some amazing cultural sights.
St.Petersburg is such a beautiful city and beautiful landmark. Very recommend for all travelers. hope you will enjoy.
A must to visit - St. Issac Cathedral, Spilled Blood Cathedral, The Hermitage. Stroll along the shopping street, Nevsky Prospect.
I stayed 4 nights in St. Petersburg this time and I wish I could stay longer! The Winter Palace (Hermitage State Museum) is full of excellent art exhibits and one day is just not enough!
This is a mustsee destination. The most beautiful European capital we have yet seen (and we have visited most) it is more beautiful than Moscow.
A perfect city. Walkable, beautiful, scenic; with great restaurants, nightlife, and sightseeing. Must see the Hermitage.
there is so much to see in this city that if you think you can see it all in a couple of days or a week you would be wrong.
It is the Venice of Russia. It combines both the historic and the modern into one!It is one big art gallery with fantastic parks and shopping facilites that you shop till you drop and drink till you are drunk.
Venice of the North. Suggestion scene: St Isaac' s view. Church on the spilled blood. Water avenue grand palace.
St Petersburg is more European than I expected and very easy to walk around. Lots of lovely buildings.
very modern convenient city, shopping is easy, enjoyed ballet & walks around town, bridges & museums
Too touristic, less attractive when compared to Moscow. Hermitage and Summer Palace (Peterhof) are the best places of visit.
Very good place for sight seeing.Hotels are pricy but food is quite cheap compared to neighbouring Scandinavia.
Generally the people were pleasant and helpful the only place we found the people impatient and rude with overseas visitors was Peterhof Summer Palace
local people dont know English at all and it's hard to communicate. but the place is very beautiful and worth for travel.
It is a very romantic city, lined with bridges and amazingly beautiful buildings. It has cafes and restaurants all over so food is not really a problem.
Beautiful city with lots af parks and places to visit. Be prepared for the sun to shine up to midnight in the summer.
After three weeks in Russia, the friendliness of the people of St Pete's was a welcomed surprise! Some English was available around the city, which was also a relief.
It is a beautiful city with incredible culture, good food and shopping for every taste. The gorgeous women in incredible clothes and shoes never stop.

More about Saint Petersburg
Discover the Allure of Saint Petersburg
Saint Petersburg, often referred to as the cultural capital of Russia, is a city that enchants visitors with its remarkable blend of history, art, and stunning architecture. Founded by Tsar Peter the Great in 1703, this magnificent city has a rich historical significance that is palpable in every corner. From the moment you step onto its cobblestone streets, you’ll feel the vibrant energy that has inspired countless artists, writers, and musicians over the centuries. The city is a canvas of architectural styles, with baroque palaces, neoclassical buildings, and intricate cathedrals, each telling a story of a bygone era.
As you wander through the streets, you’ll discover the artistic heritage that makes Saint Petersburg a must-visit destination. The city is home to the renowned State Hermitage Museum, one of the largest and oldest museums in the world, housing millions of works of art from various periods and cultures. Beyond the museum, the cityscape is dotted with grand theaters, such as the Mariinsky Theatre, where you can experience world-class ballet and opera performances. The artistic spirit of Saint Petersburg is not just confined to its institutions; it radiates through its street art, galleries, and cultural festivals, making it a living, breathing art piece.
Another highlight of Saint Petersburg is its stunning canals and bridges, often likened to Venice. The city has earned the nickname “The Venice of the North” due to its intricate network of waterways. A boat tour along the Neva River offers an entirely different perspective of the city's beauty, showcasing its palatial facades and lush gardens. Whether you’re sipping coffee at a quaint café or strolling through the iconic Palace Square, the charm of Saint Petersburg is undeniable, beckoning travelers to explore its many wonders.
When to Experience Saint Petersburg's Magic
Timing your visit to Saint Petersburg can significantly enhance your experience, as each season offers its own unique charm. The summer months, particularly June to August, are the most popular time to visit, with long daylight hours and a plethora of outdoor events. During this period, the city comes alive with festivals, open-air concerts, and the famous White Nights, when the sun barely sets, creating a magical atmosphere perfect for exploring.
However, spring (April to May) and autumn (September to October) are also wonderful times to experience the city. Spring brings blooming gardens and mild weather, perfect for enjoying the beautiful parks like the Summer Garden or the gardens of Peterhof. Autumn, on the other hand, showcases a breathtaking palette of fall colors, making it an excellent time for photography enthusiasts. Winter, although cold, transforms the city into a winter wonderland, with festive markets and ice skating rinks that create a cozy atmosphere.
It’s also essential to consider local events when planning your trip. The city hosts numerous festivals throughout the year, such as the Saint Petersburg International Economic Forum in June and the Scarlet Sails celebration in July, which features a spectacular fireworks display and a tall ship parade. These events offer unique insights into the local culture and provide an unforgettable experience for visitors.
Getting Around the City Like a Local
Exploring Saint Petersburg is a delightful adventure, and getting around the city is easier than you might think. The public transportation system is efficient and affordable, making it a popular choice for both locals and tourists. The metro is particularly noteworthy, with its beautifully decorated stations that resemble underground palaces. With just a few rubles, you can travel quickly between major attractions, including the Church of the Savior on Spilled Blood and the State Hermitage Museum.
For those who prefer to explore above ground, trams and buses are readily available and cover extensive routes throughout the city. Taxis and ride-sharing services are also convenient options, especially for late-night outings or when heading to less accessible areas. However, for the most authentic experience, consider walking or biking along the picturesque canals and streets. This allows you to soak in the architectural beauty and discover charming cafes and shops tucked away in alleyways.
Don’t forget to take advantage of the city’s bike-sharing programs, which are a fun way to navigate the scenic routes. Many locals enjoy cycling along the Neva River or through the expansive parks.
