Where to stay in Pyin Oo Lwin
Pyin Oo Lwin hotels & accommodations
We booked Hotel Pyin Oo Lwin for a two-night rest break during our 26-day independent tour of Myanmar, and were thoroughly delighted with it. Our bungalow was spacious and spotlessly clean, with a huge bed, dressing room, bath, shower, toilet, and front balcony where we could sit and read. The restaurant was excellent, and our two breakfasts and two dinners there were ...
This was on my way back to Pyin Oo Lwin, having stayed there before but in a different hotel. The Royal Park View is nicely located between the town center and the Botanical Garden and both can be reached easily by bicycle. There are also a couple of good places to eat close by so no need to go to the main part of town every time you want to have lunch or dinner. I boo...
This was a funny one. Booked it because we were tired of hostels - in Burma it's basically backpacker hostels or big weird military owned hotels, so it was nice to see some boutique hotels in Pyin Oo Lwin. Looked like a lovely place with a little hotspring bath, and no backpackers! Arrived to an almost empty hotel, but an incredibly friendly and helpful staff. Felt li...
Nothing bad about this hotel. Staff is very friendly, location in Pyin Oo Lwin couldn't be any better (!), rooms are superclean. The breakfast is Myanmar-Standard (toasts, jam, eggs in any desired form, fried rice, a Burmese soup, fruits, cornflakes, coffee, tea, milk).
We stayed 1 night in this wonderful hotel (would have been nice if we have few more extra days in town). We had fun at the karaoke in the basement and also ordered local dishes and spaghetti which kids enjoyed. Breakfast was lovely at the roof top restaurant. Rooms are very good size and clean, staffs are such wonderful always ready to help. We would definitely stay he...
Everything is good apart from we booked two months in advance but we didn’t get a double bed which we requested on booking. Sometimes I didn’t understand why we reserve in advance but can’t get what we wanted.
Awesome. Hands down best hotel you can stay at in Pyin oo Lwin. Yes, you can pay way more at other places but, this place has it all or better for less. The staff goes out of their way to make sure you're comfortable and taken care of. The place is immaculate and very elegant. The owner hangs out around the hotel and is the friendliest guy you'd ever meet. The hotel is...
A good hotel with staff that are eager to please. English communication was quite difficult but we eventually got there and we had everything that we needed. The hotel is in a great location between town and the beautiful botanical gardens and you can borrow bicycles or rent motorbikes (be careful on these though). The rooms are incredibly spacious and comfortable an...
It was a great time for us. When we arrived early, the manager arranged a room for us to rest temporarily. The lady who made breakfast is also a nice lady and we liked mont hin ghar. They helped us to get a van to visit around. All the things are perfect. They contacted one of the car agent called cherry may to go down to mandalay city. We booked a private van. But whe...
It's elegant and aged hotel but it's clean, warm and welcoming. I actually wished to stay there more nights.
The hotel is about 20 minutes walk from the centre roundabout, but you can cycle as well or take a taxi. if you like walking also the gardens are doable (use the back gate). The room is unbelievable; very large and luxurous. I think we must have had 60 m2 or so. We stayed two nights, which gave us one day to see Pyin Oo Lwin and this was enough for us. The gardens is t...
The best mid range hotel I’ve had in Myanmar. It’s located in the center of the town and near from everywhere. Room is spacious enough and well facilitated. The breakfast is really delicious and has wide variety of choices. All the staffs are super helpful and well communicated in English.
We had a nice time at Hotel 99, but we would not go there another time because of its location - without motorbike you can’t visit Pyin Oo Lwin... it’s too far from the center. But the staff was very friendly and helpful!! And breakfast was delicious.
Did their best to help with everything, In breakfast when yhey saw I'm not eating much they made eggs especially for me without even asking them to!
This hotel was absolutely incredible. There was excellent air conditioning and a very clean and modern bathroom. Breakfast in bed was included and was delicious everyday. The property was also beautiful. I would definitely stay at this hotel again next time I am in Pyin Oo Lwin.
Initially I was annoyed as this hotel is not in Mandalay it is in Pyin Oo lwin but upon arrival I was very happy. After 6 nights of expensive, substandard accommodation I finally found a good hotel in Myanmar, worth every cent I paid. The room was big, clean and comfortable. Breakfast was great and delivered to my room. The staff were very helpful. I couldn't recommend...
This place is amazing, 1) Good Breakfast 2) Near to Phin Oo Lwin famaous flower garden 3) Big room 4) Restaurant in Hotel which serve very verity and amazing food + cheaper price 5) Staff very friendly
Very comfortable stayed in Pyin Oo Lwin. Room is clean and we can see a beautiful garden inside of the bungalow . Breakfast was good with Myanmar and European food. The manager was very friendly and helpful. He has given many travel information about Pyin Oo Lwin,Mandalay and Shan State through and it was very helpful for us.
We were on few days trip to Pyin Oo Lwin for flower festival and Hotel Aster was recommended by a friend. The hotel is on Mandalay-Lashio rd about 10 minutes drive from the city centre. (Keep in mind Pyin Oo Lwin is a small city and the location does not bother us). Most of the attractions and activities are out of town. Its best value for money, a lot cheaper than ...
The location showing at Agoda map is wrong. The actual location is at Anessakhan, about 7 miles (11 km) before arriving Pyin Oo Lwin from Mandalay. There is no public transport to go out to city centre at night.
great staff assistance, clean and good location. Good staff attention to try to assist customers despite not fluent English (but good communication none the less) Would recommend highly as a 2-star hotel option.
The hotel was clean, safe and quiet. Unfortunately, the staff were unable to communicate in English (if you know Chinese you might be able to get help from one of the staffers.) So I was unable to get help with booking train tickets the next day, it was also a bit difficult to get around Pyin Oo Lwin from the location, the horse and carriage was about $10 US I think. ...
My stay at Sagawar was legitimately one of the highlights of my entire trip. The hotel is nice and reasonably priced for the area, but the staff is amazing. The location is remote as another reviewer said, so you should think of this more like a homestay, living in a local area (but sleeping in a nice hotel). The owner's son drove me to his favorite restaurant and I fe...
Once I came, check in was smooth, room wasn't ready but I kept my luggage in reception and went sightseeing, they discussed cheaper price for me with motorbike taxi. Once I came back I found all my bags were in the room already. I found it be clean and quite good, still basic. After a while I wanted to go for dinner, but couldn't get the good price from motorbike taxi,...
Terrible. Room was dirty, dusty and covered in rat droppings. The bathroom was coated in someone's hair and there was a very suspicious stain on my bed sheet. Asked for the room to be cleaned, but when we returned later it hadn't been done. Got moved to another room. Staff were clueless and didn't speak any English. Just 5/6 young guys sat around reception fiddling wit...
Firstly ,all the staffs including owner are Super friendly and nice. Secondly they offer the best service and try their best to confront their customer. Lastly , if you have inquiries ,just ask them because they are willing to help you out as much as they can! When we arrived there were no electricity (they said that it will be ok at 4pm, in reality 6pm). Hot water is just warm - no problem, but the pressure is very soft, so had to shower by letting the water down. Boss booked us a shared taxi for 2:30pm. No taxi insight until 3:30pm. They send the boy out to get another taxi, taxi arrived at 4pm, we had to tell driver to q...
The location was a problem for us as the hotel kitchen did not provide evening meals. Every time you needed to go out it required a taxi/motorcycle taxi to be called. Our room was not serviced for our second night. We were given clean towels and water etc when we requested them.
Hotel with normal Facility but Staff are really good, Actually too good !
This is a resort style hotel, which is off the main roads and fairly quiet. The best thing about the property is the staff. They have an excellent balance of speed and service, without being bothersome. The rooms are in a number of 2 unit buildings, and they are absolutely huge. The owner is a hard-working and ambitious woman who speaks English well, and Japanese f...
Cheap places to stay in Pyin Oo Lwin
We stayed 3 nights in a fan room (which was a bit too warm, it was the hot season, May, after all). The included breakfast was great, the staff are very helpful and the free taxi service to and from the train station was much appreciated. The location is a 15 minute walk from the Central Market, but there are ample dining options nearby. The motorbikes at the hotel are...

This has got to be the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. I wouldn't even class it as a hotel. Agoda you really need to remove this from your list of hotels. Staff awful rooms just awful. Shower?? Well if that's a shower then it's a disgrace.

I have been staying in May Myo Sa Kan Tha hotel for several time and i like it very much. The location of the hotel near downtown and on Mandalay -Lashio main road

Real reviews for hotels
The town itself is not that exciting but make sure you get some sort of taxi (we'd recommend motorbikes for couples/group/single travellers) to Anisakan Falls (make sure you eat and are well rested before this one, you'll need to hike down a steep mountain, then back up, wear comfy shoes), Pwe Kauk Waterfalls, Maha Ant Htoo Kan Thar Pagoda (go after Pwe Kauk Waterfalls, it's close by), and National Kandawgyi Gardens (spend a good 5 hours here and explore everything, it's awesome!).
Pyin Oo Lwin offers a very nice botanical garden and lots of nature (hiking and such) in the area, but not much else.
Across this hotel, there's a coffee plantation which plants organic coffee beans, nice high roasted coffee.
Weather is cool all year round. although we went during the hotest period, there is no need for air-conditioning because the temperature drop to 20+ degree celius range during the night.
PYIN OO LWIN IS A HILL STATION AND CAN GET QUITE COLD IN THE WINTER MONTHS. TO GET THERE IS A 2HOUR DRIVE FROM MANDALAY WHERE YOU CAN GET PRIVATE TAXI FROM THE AIRPORT FOR AROUND US $ 60.
Very pleasent place, nice if you want to get away from the heat in Mandalay. Very relaxing out of season so very good place to unwind and "cool down" or meditate.
An absolutely intriguing and beautiful hill station. Ride a horse and carriage through the winding streets, marvel at the plethora of British colonial mansions and administrative buildings, the panoramic views from the escarpment, the botanic gardens sprawling across the hills, the delicious Shan for at the Club Terrace Food Lounge, the buzzing central market and night food market.
Really a nice little town, a short rail trip up from Mandalay through beautiful scenery. It has fantastic botanical gardens and a nice cool temperature year round.
Definitely the least impressive of Burmese destinations for us. Nothing quaint about he old british hill station.
The city appears to be better off than the rest of Myamar with many nice homes. There are also many market gardens and more intensive farming due to the more moderate climate and very good soil.
