Real reviews for hotels
We have lived in West Kalimantan for 35 years. I can't imagine why anyone would come to Pontianak for a vacation.
Facilities very bad. Road is too small. For walking pedestrians seems too dangerous. More infrastructure should be done.
You can find various kinds of excellent food especially street food, tastes authentically with the quality stays the same even after many years and different generations.
You can enjoy shopping in Pontianak. Very crowded city, pack with motorcyclist need more careful if you are driving.
This city exactly cross the equator line, so no wonder it has warm and hot climate especially in day time.
You can visit Kadariah palace and Equator monument. Better rent a car for city tour since there is no taxi in Pontianak.
There are many good and delicious food in Pontianak, especially chinese food. You can walk along Gajahmada street, and enjoy the food along the street.
citizens need to be trained to love their mother nature more (rubbish was seen everywhere). health conscious needs to be practiced too (workers dont wash their hands before making drinks, provided that they had touched other things before).
the road easy to remember, so not efraid to get lost, and have a much choise of kuliner, if u food alcoholic its a nice place to go
it's a nice city, but a lake of water, so prepare your self, but if u stay in hotel no need to worry
Near Pontianak city there are few small town offers attractions of its own. Try Singkawang, Mempawah or Sambas.
Culinary city, Pontianak. There are lots of food that worth to try in Pontianak. Chinese foods, contains pork, which is very delicious.
Pontianak is a good city, good prospect for business. However the facility for public transportation especially city meter taxis are not available, this makes it difficult for business travelers.
I would suggest you to stay more than 2 nights only if you have an interest on Cultures and tradition.
A dirty noisy town. There is nothing there for tourists. The city has a rubbish problem and needs to clean up and start recycling.
Unique Culture (Dayak Culture), various food. Better rent a car, not many option for public transportation.
Pontianak is a very dirty and not really nice city! Its not worth to go if not needed! There is the Statue of the equator there, this is more or less that whats nice to see there! Internet in City hard to get! So if the city is a transit place, organize very well in advance cause its very difficult once youre there!! English speaking people hard to find.
Pontianak is the nice place for business, With the high temperatures so close to the sun, nice food.
The city is quite clean, but the weather is quite hot. People like to have breakfast and dinner on side-street stalls, and taste is good.
Pontianak is a multicultural city, the gateway to West Kalimantam. It is modern with preserved and not- so preserved history, it is set over the banks of two rivers and the perfect place for a city adventure .
Pontianak is a very interesting city. It is a melting pot of many cultures, though most businesses are run by ethnic Chinese.
the weather is just hot HOT HOT, it is in equator, the sun might be above your head directly, but when the night come.
Typical Indonesian city. Some interesting local culture and sights to see. Seems to be commercial focus rather than entertainment.
Check your time of travel with the Chinese local residents' schedule of ancestor praying. On certain months of the years, all Chinese residents in Indonesia fly back to their hometown to pray at their ancestors/parents/grandparents' graves and a lot of the Chinese Indonesians come from Pontianak.
Majority of Pontianak population is Chinese. As we know that in Chinese there is a lot of traditional event.
