we arrived at the hotel after a long sri lanka tour and we were so relaxed once we realized we arrived one of the treasury boxes of sri lanka. we were welcomed with a refreshing fresh juice drink that was lifesaving after our tiring way from kandy to the hotel. our room was very comfortable, clean with nice colonial design. we just simply loved it. it was great that t...

It was just a short 4D3N at Weligama but it was one of the best place i've visited after being to so many countries. It was an unforgettable experience for us in Sri Lanka, and of course, the main reason is because of W15. All the staff are so friendly and responsive, the place is so clean n relaxing, people around are so helpful n polite. The staff's hospitality is ex...

Really was one of the best getaways I have had in Sri Lanka. The property consists of four 3 bedroom villas. I booked a garden suite which was very tastefully decorated as is the rest of the villa. Even though another room in the same villa was occupied I had the feeling of having the whole villa to my self. All my needs were met. Great room, great bathroom, kitch...

My mum and I stayed here for 3 nights and really, really did not want to leave. Everything little was perfect here; in years of travelling across the world, I've never found such a perfect hotel. Room: Big and airy with a huge bathroom. All the little touches were on hand (water, robes, safe etc.) and it was spotlessly clean. Beds were super comfortable and the balco...

This is one of the most fantastic hotel I had stayed in Sri Lanka. The seaview for the room is nice. The location is about 3km away from main beach of Mirissa but provide more privacy. The food in the hotel are the best I found in Mirissa. The staffs of hotel are all very nice. The room has all the facilities more than my needed. Really perfect for couple!

The hotel is almost 2-3km away from the Mirissa main beach, peaceful, quite and also easy access to the main street of Mirissa( if you have a driver, or its is easy to get a tuktuk) We was surprised when we walked into this place, very close to the beach and there were no reception area but a big open kitchen with a very friendly (and yet handsome) chef! We took the ...

No1 Mirissa is a new, stylish and upmarket boutique hotel/guest house perched on the rocks at the end of Marissa Beach. The location is fantastic with lovely views along the palm trees and down to the surfers in the water. We stayed there after moving on early from the very disappointing Talalla Retreat. The design of the rooms is comfortable and elegant, with lots...

The view from this hotel is amazing. we did a last-minute stay at this hotel and we need it 3 rooms. Because there was a little mix-up with our booking they upgraded us to a beautiful Seaview room. These rooms are spectacular. the staff was so nice and accommodating. The breakfast was very good. we enjoyed the fruit and they made special eggs for us by request. the po...

The best hotel in Sri Lanka during my trip. Maybe the best one i have ever stayed. The staffs are very friendly. THe manager is a very very nice guy. The room is wonderful. The decoration is amazing. The breakfast is delicous...everything is so so good. We will come back again for sure!

Great hotel, very clean, large room with windows that brighten the room. Bathroom is large and very nice. Bed was large and had a firmer matress. Hotel equipped with Hot and cold showers, mini fridge, pool, and good air con. hotel staff was helpful, and very polite. breakfast was basic, but plentiful. The location of the hotel was fantastic especially for families. Th...

This is a really quiet and nice place to stay.It locates in the jungle. The room is so great, the water was strong and warm enough. Two pools.SUCH A GREAT PLACE TOO STAY!The air is so nice up in the mountain. From here to mirissa beach costs 250 Rupees, but the Tuk Tuk drivers always want to charge at least 400 Rupees. Definitely need to bargain with them.Anyways, Lots of w...

During our vacation through Sri Lanka, we opted for one night in Mirissa and Handagedara Resort, as we stopped in the area to go whale-watching. Our previous hotels were fine, but lacking in some of the finer touches, but when we arrived here, we found ourselves at a first-class establishment, with the details taken care of with a professional touch. Greeted warmly b...

- It was a pleasant stay at this resort. I will definitely come back here again & it's highly recommended to whoever who is going to Mirissa. - Location is strategic, the beach is just across the road and there are many restaurants nearby the resort - The host is very flexible in the sense that he allows us to have late checkout without any surcharge. This is really a ...

Brizo is a luxury hotel within a very short walk of Weligama town and beach. We had a warm reception with the clerks tending to our bags. Our room was luxurious and well decorated with all the amenities we needed. Secure storage, AC, separate shower/ toilet, balcony spanning two walls (floor to ceiling windows), extremely comfortable bedding and cushioning throughout. ...

its nice small hotel owned and manged by srilankan family. mirissa beach is with in 1 minute walk. we had a nice sri lankan and European combined breakfast as per our request and was very delicious. owners and management are very helpful and would make sure you will have your holiday in style. Mirissa beach is very nice , you can do lot of water activities in day...

First we came here for couple days. Now we've been here for a week and not hurry to leave yet. Hotel is right next to the beach which is great place to learn surfing. The hotel itself is quite new with simple clean rooms with air-con (if you want to pay little extra). Customer service is excellent which makes you feel safe and comfortable. Hotel has also new swimming ...

The location is perfect - 2 min walk to the beach, turtle bay, coconut hill,a few dissent restaurants nearby , scooter rental near by . The hotel - we searched a-lot for a good hotel in mirissa beach and we found this one, the price is a bit too expensive but the other hotels were just bad. The hotel is new and beautiful, clean, the rooms are nice and clean and have a g...

Superb breakfast - best we've had in srilanka. Simple, family run hotel with wonderful staff, an excellent pool and a great range of books to read/swap. We have a top room with excellent AC and a ceiling fan and a balcony that looks over palm trees out to the ocean. Easy walk to the beach and we love that all the beach cafes have free loungers - great beach. The only d...

Loved our stay at Sea Star and Mirissa. The room was spacious and the view was incredible, spotting turtles below in the water. Great place to snorkel out the front, but visibility was poor when we went. The room was good but the ac and tv didnt work when we got there. The staff quickly and efficiently made sure everything worked before they let us settle in. A grea...

Probably one of the best places we've stayed in Sri Lanka and this is our 2nd trip. A 5 minute walk from the main road and beach but this didn't affect our enjoyment of the beach. A very clean, well maintained property in a peaceful spot with the rear overlooking very green and lush agricultural land. Owner and sons very much hands on and are very pleasant with a good s...

We absolutely loved D Canal. The house is beautifully appointed and set in stunning tropical gardens. There are regular visits from wildlife including peacocks, monkeys, mongoose and kingfishers. Breakfast is fabulous and the free tuk tuk transfers to the main road is a great touch. We had such a relaxing stay at D Canal. I could move in! Would highly recommend to oth...

We spent two nights here and moved out earlier mainly due to the juice bar next door playing really loud music late at night. The staff was lovely, breakfast great but the room (superior chalet) was very small and felt quiet outdated. Great location right on Mirissa beach and free rent of body boards

We had a great stay at the Coral Beach Hotel. We actually wanted to stay for 2 nights only, but ended up staying for 6 nights in total during our Sri Lanka trip. The location is awesome, right on the beach. We had a seaview room, which was nice. The room itself is small and the bathroom could be cleaner, but as we didn't spend much time in the room that was fine. The ...

We booked Wavelengh for our last two nights in Sri Lanka and were very pleased with our choice. Our hosts were so very helpful and accommodating. All staff were very friendly and welcoming. The accommodation itself was well appointed, clean and comfortable with a large new bathroom and good shower. Toiletries and tea/coffee are also provided. The room had decent, quiet...

The staff and the ocean view is the best thing about this place. It’s a good 20 minutes away from all the action at Mirissa beach via TukTuk. The rooms lack the basic necessities (no hair dryer no tv etc). The overall feel of the place was nice, but a little unfinished. Good if you’re ok with being a bit remote and spending time with your own group.

A beautifully restored, colonial property, furnished with incredible taste. Fabulous garden with lovely pool. Only 3 double rooms - two share one bathroom. This is not a property for those who want mod cons. There are only fans, no air con. One shower is in the open air. But for those who want an experience of simple, yet exquisite charm, this is the place for you. The...
Cheap places to stay in Mirissa

This is a great place, where the owners will make you feel like a family member. I had been traveling for quite a while when I arrived there and I had asked many not-so-sommon requests. The guys did all for me with a smile on their face. At the beginning they told me that I could not stay in the room that I booked (6people room) and they put me in this huge 8 people do...

This place is so nice, it makes me want to go back to Mirissa just to stay there again. I stayed in the Villa, which is spaceous for a single traveller. The bathroom has all it needs, the floor looks normal grey when it is dry, but gets mesmerizing colours when it gets wet, which it does frequently of course! The villa has a nice porch towards the open garden. During ...

We have travelled Sri Lanka for three weeks now and this was my favourite homestay. Sumitha couldn’t do enough for us, giving us tea fruit and biscuits when we first arrived.. delicious plentiful Sri Lankan breakfasts every morning including pancakes, fruit, rottis and hoopers. Only issue is the mass of mosquitos so make sure you bring mosquito spray!! Great little h...

First the good: very, very friendly family running the place. Even rode his bike out to meet me and help me get to the house as the Agoda GPS point is in the wrong place. Offered me tea/coffee upon check in and check out. Room was very clean as was the attached bathroom. The room also had a fan, mosquito net, clothes drying/hanging rack, and a small mirror. The bad po...

Stayed here for 2 nights, just enjoying the nearby beach. The staff was very friendly, the food served was very delicious. The staff was very helpful to us, it was raining when we had to leave to the next place, and they drove us in their tuktuk to Mirissa for a very reasonable price, we had a lot of trouble finding the place, but the driver was trying really hard to a...

We had the best 3 days at this place. A small hotel runned by a lovely local family. 3 delicate rooms with stunning paddy field view. Mirissa Beach is just a few minutters away in tuktuk - the owner arranged tuktuk for 1.25 dollar each way. Best breakfast in Sri Lanka so far and we even got afternoon tea everyday. We really felt at home. Clean, a great night sleep and...

This is the my best living experience in Sri Lanka ! The room is good with a big bed and a nice window ,more than that ,The best thing is the persons .All the family members were very good to me ,Everyone treated me as a member of their family ,I were also very happy to live with them ,the father cooked tasty

Quiet location with lovely gardens, and although not very near the beach (about 4 kilometers away) it is on a regular bus route to and from the beach, and Damith (the owner) has a tuk tuk and was very obliging about running around when needed. This is a very clean house with efficient air con and fans, brand new bathrooms and comfortable beds. Not luxurious, but with e...

the location in Mirissa is excellent. Far enough off the main road that you don't get road noise, and a short walk from the No.1 Roti Shop. The facilities are fine, you get what you pay for. The host came by with some of her fresh mangoes for breakfast on the day of our departure which was lovely.

The stay would be good if they didn't push me more than five time selling a whale watching tour in one day. Sri Lanka men should really manage themselves to not harass single foreign female traverlers. Keep hitting on them or asking private questions is NOT ACCEPTABLE! If you want to make a business successful, learn the manners!

The room was clean and spacious. It is located between the beach and the main road (bus stop). Hostel owner arranged my whale watching tour, dinner and breakfast. I love the Kottu roti that they got for me for dinner. He also suggested the snake farm tour (very interesting) which I went to instead of the Traditional fishermen. There was no wifi in the room so I went to...

We booked and prepaid almost 2 weeks. The management quite grumpy and doesn't speak in English. That place is not a hotel ! Only an extended family house in terrible way. The stairs to upstairs more than life-threatening. The breakfast is poor the services is unprofessional. for example. There is not enough glass, incredibly overused the towels. Wet and moldy walls ...

I loved being in Midigama but this is a little far away from the beach and the main street where the food is so at night its a little difficult. The staff are nice but it wasn't the most clean, average facilities. There is a charm and nice yoga atmosphere though so if you're looking to get away from the noise its quite nice. Wifi is only available in the front room.

Had a great stay here. Rooms are perfect for the price. Comfortable and clean bedroom and bathroom. Straight over the road is a couple of good reef breaks. Family were super friendly and helpful. They even invited me into their living room to watch the nightlty Sri Lanka soap operas. Overall excellent value for money and a great insight into Sri Lanka family life.

The owners are amazing, very friendly and know a bunch about the surrounding area and Sri Lanka in general. They have rental scooters, surf boards and can get you whatever you need. The rooms are super nice and provide everything needed from fan and comfortable bed to big bathroom (please note, it is a cold water shower.) Location is right outside midigama beach but...

We stayes for 3 nights in a private air con double and it was absolute bliss. The room was immaculate, large and comfortable and exceeded our every expectation. JJ's is run by an Australian and the welcome map and extensive infomration he can provide will make your stay, it is above and beyond anything we recieved anywhere in Sri Lanka. The breakfast is made fresh ...

We had a very pleasant stay at Hansi. The accommodation was better then we expected. We received delicious breakfast and the hosts assisted us with a scooter and making our stay comfortable. We stayed for 4 nights and the location was great - 1 km from busy Mirissa. There is a dive Centre around the corner and a small private beach. The bus stop is 50m from Hansi, whic...

Everything were very good. Nice location near the bus stop and about 5-10min to the perfect Mirissa beach. There is a place for exchange money on the first floor. The room was clean and nice too, but if you take a room with a/c it will be buch more comfortable. The stuff are very friendly and welcoming and the hostess is just awesome women!!! She was so kind, friendly ...

It's great to have a private beach at your disposal. What Parrot Fish Bay in Mirissa does is takes the amazing thing it has to create an unbelievable experience. Other hotels would have compromised on service just because they had that view Parrot Fish Bay boasts of. The staff was friendly; the food excellent. The beetroot soup and the string hoppers stood out. What ...

We loved everything of Suriya Guest! Not to mention the exceptionally clean and cozy room, we met the kindest host family which gave a perfect ending to our trip in Sri Lanka. Hosts Sanjeevani and Ranjith were so kind and helpful. Sanjeevani's cooking is the most delicious I had in Sri Lanka so I would definitely recommend eating in! We are very grateful to them for their help and wonderful hospitality. It's only a 10 min walk from the beach, it's much quieter and cleaner away from the main drag. I would highly recommend staying here.

A family of four, dedicated making you comfortable and welcome. Home cooking beats the beach restaurants options easily with simple veg and fish dishes If looking for affordable and cosy accommodation they will make you feel most home. The family mother has many second sons and daughters among the past visitors...

If you want to experience Sri Lankan hospitality you are at the right place. The people running the place are really really nice and help you with whatever need you have. To get around you can hire a scooter from them. Especially if you want to go surfing and visit the breaks in the area this is the perfect base. Apart from surfing there are lots of things to do so you...

If we went back to Mirissa we'd go to Sri Many again. The room is excellent for the price and overlooks a lovely little garden where breakfast is served every morning. The hosts are charming people and add to the pleasure of the visit, as do the rest of the staff. Breakfasts were superb, with fresh fruit, eggs, toast, cereals and really good coffee. When my wife in...

Recently opened guesthouse in Mirissa, where I spent three night. The owner is very friendly and dropped me off at the bus stop a few km away, so that I would have better connections to Galle. The guesthouse is just off the beach on the other side of the road. Air-conditioning is still not available, but the fan partly compensates for that.

We really enjoyed our stay here. Very nice room with cold AC and good WiFi . The staff were very nice and welcoming. Their pool and food is great, and what we found to be very convenient was that the Palm Tree Grove is literally across the street. There is a side street across the road that takes you right to it, like a 1 minute walk. It’s the best spot in Mirissa to t...

Staying here was a great experience with a lovely family. The room is upstairs and has a bathroom attached so is very private. The views from the deck (where you are served a delicious breakfast every morning) were wonderful. Just a short 300m walk down the road will lead you to Secret Beach. Get up early before breakfast and you will have the entire beach to yourself....

This place really wowed us. It’s at the best location, right next to a supermarket and super close to the beach and the restaurants. The host Lucky was super kind and helpful, stacked the baskets with a lot of fruits and milk and tea. I would go back here to stay if and when in Mirissa.

I don’t know how to describe this. Words cannot express my feelings about this beautiful house with beautiful people. When I say beautiful I mean really really from inside beautiful. It’s not a guest house it’s a five star hotel!!! Five star house no six star! Six star house six star people six star food six star food six star clean!!! You can’t miss this if you come to...

Coastal Villa Mirissa have two rooms. When I arrived I couldn't see anybody else, but there is a phone number you can call. The host arrived three minutes after we finished the phone call. We had a fantastic time at Mandara. Fabulous light spacious room with fantastic views of the sea. The food was delicious. The pool was spotlessly clean a well as the beach in front. A small hotel but lacked nothing for us. All of the staff were very kind, helpful and charming. We would not hesitate to stay at the Mandara again. A big thank you to all of the staff fo...

We LOVED our time at Kadolana Guest House and extended our stay from originally one night to four nights. Everything about this place is nice - simple and clean rooms (try to grab the one with the balcony, we had such nice moments out there), the jungle area with monkeys around who won’t bother you at all, the nice area to sit AND especially the amazing host family who...

Real reviews for hotels
Firstly, Mirissa is NOT a city. It is a location between a city, Matara and a town, Weligama. It is a tourist area, with the usual tourist shops and the highway from Colombo to Matara.
Great spot 3 hrs from Colombo! Grab a beach side hotel and enjoy the days relaxing on the beach and eating at the restaurants on the beach.
If you stay in Mirissa, I recommend that you visit Welligama for surfing. This would be a valuable trip if you are a beginner.
Very laid-back, hassle-free, beautiful beach and bays around Mirissa. Not great for shopping but excellent for chilling and being in the sea.
At night it is really great, there is a very good vibe among the people. Although they really need to clean up the beach, it is very poluted when you walk towards Matara.
Beautiful beaches but becoming more crowded. Good for surfing. The more pristine, isolated beaches can be found near Tangalle but there is little in the way of tourist facilities.
Don't travel here alone unless you want to be lonely as the only people here seem to be couples or families.
Great beach - lots of bars and restaurants - but still really chilled out vibe walking along beach at night.
