Beijing hotels & places to stay

Stayed for one night as resting point after arriving to Beijing. Hotel is modern. Room was big and heating was fine. Price for the stay was definitely worth it for a resting point, I would not stay there to stay. Check-in/Check-out was straight forward. The location was walking distance to places to eat, but definitely not catered for tourism in central Beijing and better suited for layovers and stopovers. It was very directly below the airport routes so airplane landing/departing sounds is definitely there late into the night. They did offer earplugs beside the bed but I didn't use them.

All the employees at the front desk speak English and know their jobs well. They are also generally helpful. My only beef is that they rarely smile and all look so busy and stressed with work which is in contrast to employees of other hotels in other Asian countries and even in other parts of China. I’ve travelled to a lot of other Chinese cities and the general aura of the people there seem more relaxed compared to the working class of Beijing. The hotel has a nice architecture but the carpets and may need replacement. It’s undamaged and clean but doesn’t look new. The rooms are well equipped but a not spacious. Of course, it may be at par with the price range for Beijing hotels. This hotel is located at the very center of most activities so one will only need a short walk to be able to visit the Imperial Palace, Tiananmen Square, that Nest like structure , shopping malls, good restaurants and the huge, cheap and clean flea markets. This is just a bit short of being the perfect hotel for a tourist. As for being a business traveler, this hotel doesn’t give wifi access in rooms and I remember having to go to the ground floor business center and use an old windows PC to be able to use the internet. A business traveler needs frequent internet access and this hotel didn’t have it. I hope they start providing free wifi access in every room.

The Jianguo Qianmen Hotel is a great place to stay in Beijing. Try to get a room rate price that includes breakfast, which could well be the best value meal of the day. Rather than eat at the over-priced restaurant, try the small street corner restaurant that is some 5oo metres from the hotel on the same side of the road - turn left as you exit the foyer. Spend the money to see the Peking Opera. The singing might be unusual, but it is a part of Chinese history, and the acrobatics that are included are spectacular. The staff at the hotel are very helpful and the decor of the hotel is well worth a photo. A great place to stay in Beijing.

Impressive service, all staff feels you like caring only you. This hotel is just in the down town area, front of the hotel there is subway station which can take you every where even to connect you airport shuffle train. Swiss hotel is just 5 min walking distance from CBD area and take you easily main touristic attraction places. You will feel very safe and fast service. Nothing was uncomplicated, also had reasonable price comparing with other 5 stars hotels. Restaurant and lounges were inside had delicious food and best buffet service except little expensive but you would worth to feel real service and great atmosphere. We will definitely stay again in the Swiss Hotel in beijing, and others around the world as well.

We booked a superior room, and it was a great surprise! Room was excellently clean and spacious enough for us both, and amenities are complete! Hotel management really give excellent service with great attention to details. There was just no central heater but hotel readily provides extra blankets if requested, clearly it was not an issue for us. The different kinds of pillows are also very nice. Front desk allowed us to check in to our room early, around 12 noon, it was so nice of them to do that. It allowed us to enjoy their lunch buffet at Bloo with in-house guests' price, which has a very very delicious buffet spread. The lunch started off our excellent experience at Beijing. Hotel is near the Dengshiku station which makes it very accessible, it's also a 5-8 minutes walk to the Wangfujing pedestrian street where you can see a cultural mix of old and new Beijing. At the front of the hotel is a Starbucks outlet. Hotel lobby staff are very friendly and readily assists guests.

Trendy, modern CBD hotel just recently opened. I was a little nervous because there were so few reviews so far but I need not have worried. Reception staff were professional and courteous and check in smooth. My room was awesome. Lots of little touches made it special. Fantastic comfy bed, flat screen TV, fruit bowl, amazing view over the CBD. Bathroom was lovely and I appreciated the little rubber ducks for the bath :-) As a gym junkie, one big reason to book here was the facilities. The gym was the best hotel gym I have ever seen. It's a working gym open for membership, so has everything you would expect from a big brand name- spin studio, boxing area, masses of top notch equipment. My only complaint is that I could only book for one night as it was full, thus could not make full use of all the facilities or the pool :-( I know exactly where I will be staying on my next trip to Beijing.

Literally 2 seconds walk from hotel to Sanyuanqiao train station. You can catch airport express to hotel cost 25Yen. I was a bit nervous booking this hotel due to the fact of bad reviews from previous guests. In my opinion demanding and unreasonable guests I can say they deserve bad service. I booked premier executive room, on checking was upgraded to executive suit! Sweet as! Massive room and very clean too. Was on level 20. Nothing around but because of train station 2secs from the hotel, make this hotel a valuable place to stay while in Beijing. If you prefer taxi from airport to hotel will cost approx. 100yen. Breakfast are Asian food, those complaining about breakfast what this hotel hotel has to offer need to take a chill pills. they are in an Asian country, expect Asian breakfast!! I say Seriously why complain about Asian food in an Asian country. Good varieties, good selection of breakfast. Not all staff speak English but main thing they are friendly and will do their best to help so don’t be rude to them if you decide to stay at this hotel. Executive lounge not the best setup for a Novotel brand. I have use executive lounge in Philippines, Vietnam and other countries, their executive lounge are amazing! Executive lounge in Beijing in my opinion not a very relaxing environment. They need to move up to high floor. Having it on the ground floor it’s a very bad decision. I was having breakfast and take one banana out, the restaurant staff will stop you and ask for it back. Fair enough, I reckon they need sign saying to remind guests they not allow take any food out to avoid embarrassing guests. Overall this is a great hotel!

after staying at several hotels in beijing, we have decided that this is the best one for value for money. also customer service in china is nothing to shout about, however every member of staff at this hotel was friendly, kind and helpful. not once did anyone make us feel like we were unwelcome (as many hotels in china have). it has several large buildings all with a number of functions. the hotel was very busy and i think they accept a lot of chinese group tours as we kept seeing bus load after bus load. the room was clean and large and the bathroom was also very good. the shower was fantastic. the housekeeping service went out of thier way to help us and keep everything tidy - they made a huge effort to try to understand us. they also gave us a daily newspaper in english which was a bonus! the pool can be used by everyone - not just people staying at the hotel. it wasn't really a relaxing pool but more of one to burn off those calories. there was not a single bikini in sight, and everyone had to wear a swimming cap. and you had to pay - not much. there is also a bowling alley which was good and that too costs extra, but it's still a fraction of the price of the uk! the staff there were very helpful too. we ate serveral of the restuarant - the western one was terrible (staff were fantastic, but the food was awful!) i think they were microwave meals! the other restuarants were ok, but we have eaten much nicer food in china - there are plenty of restuarants near the entrance to the hotel that do better food. would highly recommend this hotel to anyone wanting to visit beijing - good value for money...much better than anywhere else in beijing (well, that we found anyway!).

The hotel is located in a "Hutong", i.e., a very small alley. Most taxi drivers refuse to go into those, but I arrived at 11 p.m., it was dark, and I couldn't see the hotel from the entrance of the Hutong, so I begged and pleaded with the taxi driver, who finally consented to taking me all the way to the hotel (I gave him a good tip for his pains). Once I arrived, I found that the staff had, indeed, read the message I left through Agoda about my adult daughter arriving separately and much earlier than me. Overall, the staff was very helpful ... from booking us on a tour to the Great Wall and rebooking it due to some unexpected health issues, to serving us breakfast extra early so we could make it to the tourbus on time. The facilities are nice, but in a few places could use some repairs. The (included) breakfast was a mix of traditional Chinese food (sweet and sour pork, rice porridge, etc.), and Western foods such as cereal, French Toast, regular toast with butter, jam, cheese, and some fresh fruit and yoghurt. The location is within walking distance of the Forbidden City (GoogleMaps helps a lot in getting there) and easy access to a subway station that gives quick and rush hour-free access to Beijing South Railway Station and other sites for just a few RMB.

As stated in one of the reviews below, I was looking for a hotel that offered a comfortable stay, but did not have the rates of a 5 star hotel. Hotel Kapok is one of them. The location is hard to fault, just 5 minutes' walk from Wangfujing, and 5-10 minutes' walk from either Tiananmen East Station, or Wangfujing station (Tiananmen East is slightly nearer). There are also plenty of 24-hour convenience stores on the same street as the hotel, which is always a good thing. We (my boyfriend and I) stayed in a Courtyard Room for 5 nights. The room was spacious, well-designed, and the open-plan bathroom, while taking some getting used to, was huge and extremely comfortable. I realise that some people might find the beds a bit on the hard side (Asian beds) - we found it comfortable. The staff were polite and helpful; although lack of English might have been a slight barrier, they still tried their utmost to help, even helping us explain to the taxi driver our next hotel (we stayed 2 nights at another Beijing hotel, in Chaoyang area). Overall, I would recommend this hotel (take the Courtyard room!) if you're solo-ing Beijing, i.e. without a tour guide/drive, for about 2-3 nights' stay, as although the hotel is close to Tiananmen Square, Wangfujing, Forbidden City, Mao Zedong's mausoleum, etc., other attractions such as summer palace and temple of heaven are further away. Dragonfly Spa (as you read from reviews below) is indeed on the same street as the hotel, but we didn't go in as the it was too expensive. We ended up going to Bodhi (look it up on Google, one opposite Workers' Stadium, another on Liangmaqiao lu), as they had discounted prices on selected massages if you arrived before 5pm. Dragonfly and Bodhi are both recommended

I love this hotel. I have stayed here twice and would choose to stay here again if I was passing through Beijing again. The hotel is right in the middle of the Hutongs and in a perfect place for exploring the little alleys that make up this district. It's also very close to the metro for easy access to the rest of the city. The rooms are quirky and traditional. The atmosphere is relaxed and traditional. At night the courtyards are lit up with lanterns. The hotel is very quiet and peaceful. The staff are really helpful and friendly. The breakfast is a great big Chinese banquet. I would highly recommend staying here. As a hotel, it has a lot more charm than the big foreign chain hotels in Beijing.

We were traveling with our 10-month baby for the first time in Beijing and was looking for a hotel nearby Qinghua University. We were impressed with this hotel because of its affordability, luxurious comfort, accomodating and attentive staff and service, and the variety of gourmet food in the restaurant as well as its in-room breakfast for saving time. The only thing to consider is that the location of the hotel is about 10-15 mins taxi ride from the main area so it is not very accessible by walking but its quality and staff's attentive service in providing taxi service outweighs this small hassle. There is actually a hotel shuttle service for entering the central area in early mornings which I believe is for business travelers and it would be great if the hotel could provide more service times for other travelers too.

- Room size: decent for couples - Room hygiene: really clean & cleaning service does the job great everyday - Bed: the best hotel bed we've seen in Beijing, Guangzhou and HK; clean, soft & high quality sheet set - Front desk: helpful only if you approach them first; staffs not good at English; if you ask using very simple English, they can help you. - Location: close the subway station (2 min) | not many food options within 5-10 min walking distance; although it's close to the subway, you will spend 15-30 mins to reach the major attractions destinations Definitely, it is one of the best hotels in Beijing after the giants like Shangri-La.

I was moved to this hotel by agoda because the hotel I originally chose was overbooked. I was given a room on a high floor that had a view of the forbidden city and beihai park, I spent hours just sitting by the big windows of my room just staring at the view. Transportation is also easy because the bus station is very near and taxi/uber driver knows the hotel. Location is also very good and not far from the forbidden city, definitely would stay here again if I come back to beijing

Great location, perfect for a short stay close to Beijing Capital Airport. A great value even without the last-minute rate we got. We needed someplace close to PEK with an airport shuttle because of an early morning flight, and this fit the bill perfectly. As far as hotels in China go, it does a pretty good job of catering to Western preferences. One of the front desk night staff spoke decent English. If you want excellent English, go to England. The shuttle ran promptly on the hour. There were a bunch of different restaurant options right off the lobby, and 10-15 more just across the street, including a mini-mart and a comfy sort of speakeasy with a legit selection of non-baijiu liquors. The address provided with the confirmation email was for a competing hotel about a 5 minute drive away from CITIC, which was frustrating, but I would suspect the agoda website is to blame for that. Our Didi driver and a bellman at the other hotel were able to sort it out fairly quickly.

i chose this hotel cause it is virtually next door to beijing international exhibition center where i had some business and have to roll a heavy pelican case with my equipment every day there and back. this is world recognized brand hotel, so you receive a decent western type service not available everywhere in china. hotel is located 5 min walk from carefour supermarket and a few fast food restaurants (kfc, pizza hut, yoshinobu), it also has starbucks across the street. hotel has a health club with nice swimming pool and sauna. internet is available in every room and is fast enough for skype calling and such. subway station is 15 min walk with more restaurants on the way and around. i recommend that place if you have business in this area.

I absolutedly loved this hotel. I've stayed at quite a number of large hotels in Beijing, and, even though this is a four star hotel, it beats most of the five-star hotels I've stayed in hands down. I stayed in a loft on the 16th floor. The room was huge and is more than enough to comfortably accommodate 2 people. The rooms were also clean, and room service was very curteous and prompt to reply to requests. The front desk was also very polite and the staff professional. The subway station is literally a 1 minute walk, and the bus stations are right outside the door, which takes you to all the major locations/universities in the Haidian area. I highly recommend this hotel. Will stay again for sure!
